Angry Man Blasts Russians In Pattaya

TCW

"The Russians are running Pattaya" - Well not quite yet, maybe soon but anyway that's not our business really. Whether they are making it a better place or not is again frankly none of our business really in my opinion. That's up to the Thais. To the Thais I wouldn't really see how it makes any difference to them. The aim of Pattaya is pure dollars and pounds, nothing else. How that comes I'm sure the Thais don't really care.

In general though I do agree Russians are quite rude, never smile, no common manners such as concepts of queues or letting people through. Their social and general people skills seem to be very poor.

A few of them go to my local gym and they are awful. Slamming weights around, shouting, walking through people. All with the permanent straight face.

I know we have a certain arrogance regarding English but there is a different type of stigma attached when you see a Russian in 7/11 who gets angry with a Thai who doesnt speak Russian. I mean what percentage chance do they think that a young Thai girl working in a 7/11 is going to speak Russian. Their worldly knowledge is clearly lacking. They even approach me and start speaking Russian and then walk away as if I'm stupid. I mean at least with English we know it has effected large parts of the world and in many countries is a 2nd or 3rd language. Russian does not have that reputation and surprised Russians think otherwise.

His letter is quite good and agree with large parts. On a personal level I don't like them but I accept its not my business as to whether they are good for the place or not.

I hate Russians too , hope they can find a another country to invade soon, like Cambodia

No, I don't hat 'em (yet??) But for sure, in Sihanukville they at least double in numbers every year.

Keep 'em in Pattaya please!

The last time I was in Sihanoukville (5 months ago) I think I might have seen SIX Russians in 3 days on Occheuteal Berach (forgive spelling).

Their numbers do not compare in any way to the numbers in Pattaya, but if someone in SHV could tell us where they are all massing, I would be grateful to know. Thanks.

I have a confession to make. Being around so many Russians is rubbing off on me. Like I said before when I try to be polite to them, the general reaction to that is scorn and non-respect. So what to do? Today in a store a group of Russkies were blatantly blocking the passage. Now back in my polite to Russians days I might have politely asked them to clear a path. Now with my new sensibilities, I just plowed on through as I imagine is their way. (They weren't so rough looking so it wasn't very brave.) They looked surprised. Not as much as when I sat on two Russian birds who wouldn't clear a space on a baht bus, but that's another story! coffee1.gif

--Can't be as bad as my condo-hotel that is occassionally invaded by low budget Indians who for the first time have flown abroad and (some)have never used an elevator. The highlight today was seeing a fellow jump in the pool with his cotton underwear on (and it was inside out!).

Glad you remembered. I like to think the Russian birds remembered it too. BTW, FYI, you're not supposed to change font/emphasis in included quotes. Edited by Jingthing

When I think of the "what if" - what if the Russian families were not here, then I think there would be many businesses (including the shopping centers ) closing down since the Western Europeans and Americans are not visiting Pattaya like they use to So I imagine the Thais are willing to put up with the rudeness and coldness of this post Communist group of people for the money. I also think the arrogance (and rudeness with Thais) may come from how they "act" with the less fortunate ones in their own country; after all, these are the ones with decent jobs that can afford to come here.

Dunno what happened to my comments, I saw a moderators response saying 7 month old topic which will just result in slagging off our russian friends, topic closed, but I see it isn t.

basicly I said I was thinking of buying a condo next year in Pattaya but now not as I don t wish to be next to a load of Russians partying until 4am in the morning and that as Russians are so poor when you consider a Russian army colonel only earns upwards of a few dollars a month, I am totaly bemused at how they can afford to come here. Apparently somebody is subsidising air fares to below cost seats from Moscow to BKK, but even with below cost price seats it would normaly be impossible for them to come here, so how,? I smell a rat but dunno what it is.

Dispite what is said in their defense, Thai s themselves dislike them as I know 3 Thai bar owners in Pattaya, and I rarely here a good word for them. I will be looking at phuket to buy my condo as it may be an area out of their price range and I believe Pattaya will ultimately lose. Its very possible that with the state Europe is in and thus fewer European tourists, that the Thai authorities are possibly subsidising Russian airlines but I have no proof of this, however if it is the case, the Thai authorities should show more loyalty to us who have been visiting Pattaya for years and subsidise our fares instead, but in usual Thai fashion, there s no loyalty, nore do they care who comes as long as they come.

Well to end, I am sure there will be many like me looking elsewhere to make my condo purchase, I do not hate any race of people but simply don t want to end up next to a load of drunk Russians thanks, And before anyone says well you see drunk people of all nationalities, yes you do but not every night in the condo next to yours.

I do hope they enjoy a nice holiday though, but Pattaya is not for me anymore.

I have had second thoughts about Pattaya as well due the influx of the russians. I bought a house about 10km from Bang Chang and was going to go into Pattaya for a few days at a time then back to the house for r/r then do the same but now will be selling the house and for my retirement it will be a Greek island in the not too distant future.

I took a long walk on Jomtien beach road tonight. At a few restaurants, I was greeted in Russian by Russians. At a few places at the display menu outside, menus in Russian ONLY. I guess the writing is not only on the walls, it's in NEON! Oy!

Yesterday I used my K bank atm card to pay my telephone bill at big C extra.I noticed that they had added russian language to the menu which made it more confusing since however after I choose English language now each button shows 3 languages.English,Chinese and Russian When finished the payment there is the option to enroll ( in whatever I know ) and you get 3 buttons to choose from. These buttons were in Russian and Chinese language only.

Unfortunately for you(and others) the Russians have started to flow in to Phuket also(5 years ago there was none there). As for expensive property being out of their reach because it`s expensive......dream on !! Of all the russians coming to Thailand 90% are not rich at all(whole families sharing a single hotel room),but the 5-10% that are well off or stinking rich are not put off by the prices of property anywhere in Thailand and they are buying a lot in Phuket now as well bah.gif !!!

Keep in mind a vast majority of the Russians that visit Pattaya are very low educated, poor, country side people who have either never left the country or one or twice possible some package vacations to Turkey or Egypt.

Most Muscovites would not be caught dead in that cesspool, def samui or phuket more likely. Ignoring Patong and that mango of course.

And many of the women are stunning. If this is what the country girls look like, just think what their Moscovite and St. Petersberg sisters must be like :-)

What to me is more tragic about this story is the plight of the Walking Street sign...now just an ugly advertising platform, whereas it used to be a colourful and tasteful multi-colour neon sign heralding Pattaya's iconic nitetime venue!

Struth, some are ok some are not. <deleted> me, the amount of times Iv,e seen Poms/Aussies getting all worked up because they can,t be understood in a foreign country. As for standing in aisles/ pushing in line speak up, and push through,or be left behind. Go to India and see how good ya got it here. Up in CM we dont have the problems of Pattaya and if Pattaya is getting to ya, move. To all the posters who dont like Russians, please grow a brain.

Well me got no brain then cos I don t like Russians, I m a total dunce, but was back in the 80 s an airline jockey so I guess half a brain LOLs. Aside this fact lets look at the following, like Russians or no like Russians how in the name have they suddenly got rich enough almost overnight to come to Thailand,? can somebody enlighten me please, and in the thousands. A few years is overnight in my book and dispite whats said, I know for a fact Russians are very very poor as I know a guy who s a jet engineer who spends 8 months of the year in Moscow and your average Russian army colonel earns less than a cleaner in a UK supermarket, well upwards of a few dollars a month. If any of you type into your search engine Russian standard of living, you l see my point, so how do they get to Pattaya in their thousands.? There s a rat here somewhere, just dunno what yet. Is the Thai tourist authority subsidising seats from Moscow to BKK, cos i m sure the commie government isn t, and even to below cost air travel I am still totaly bemused as to how they get here. Remember Churchill who said socialism is the equal sharing of misery, in short comrads all earn similar wages and by all the thousands of Russians coming there must be a lot of high party officials around in Moscow to afford such a luxury. My point is, and a total shot in the dark, is Thailand one of the safer places to be in such turbulant times, what with a vast build up of Russian troops in and around Siria and Iran etc, do they know something we don t. Russia is in no way post communist, it still is communist, and Mr Putin is old school, HE DON T LIKE US, it remains as much of a threat as ever if not more so than the cold war days. As for Russian women been sexy, well yes stunning is a more appropiate term, however not any more than in my home town of Nottingham UK, where you see lovely young ladies in mini skirts off for a knees up, however its a bit usless really as you won t get anywhere with them cos they have those big strong mustle Russian men to look after them, and if you do find a willing commie, it won t half cost you and God help you if you don t pay lols.

Oh forgot, many thanks to senior member for warning me they are flowing into phuket, so phukets a no go too, maybe I will just buy a cottage in the UK countryside and live a quiet life, holidaying in Thailand maybe, One thing is for sure, I AIN T BUYIN NO CONDO. LOLs, the other thing for sure is that Pattaya will ultimately suffer especialy when the cut price air fares from Moscow come to an end as all good things do, or in our case bad things, when this happens Pattaya will be in a mess cos nobody wants real estate and few will want to holiday there as it takes years for a reputation to wear off. Be warned Pattaya s tourist bosses.

Commodities bubble. That's how. All these high oil and gas prices are making them filthy rich. I'm kindof praying for the day when this bubble bursts. Getting kind of sick of it all.

Well the bubble certainly will burst, as they say what goes up must come down, however high oil prices etc don t make Russians rich, its only the few high ranking party officials who get rich like Putin with his private cruise ship, as a comrad you don t get rich you just share a roll up in freezing conditions as comrads are more or less all on the same poverty salary, now with thousands of Russians in Pattaya I wonder where the money is coming from as Russian s see nothing from oil profits. As Churchill rightly said, socialism is an equal sharing of misery, and thats what ordinary Russians get wether they work in the oil industry or shoveling plutonium into rockets, or digging holes in roads, the salaries are more or less all the same so whats cracking off here, financialy they should not be here so who s paying and why.

Not pension age LOL, but getting there, 57 to be exact, an your right avnt got laid for a while, not that offers don t flood in, just suspitious as to motives as most Thais are after money and bin stung a few times already, once bitten an all that. As said I can afford a condo, even though I m a Brit but won t be buying one now. As said in another post also, I do know a number of Thai bar owners in Pattaya who also dislike them and if three Thai bar owners is the norm, then few have a good word to say about them. However having slagged them off somewhat awful, if I was in Pattaya, I would try to get to know a few just out of curiosity, therefore i m not really qualified to slag them off, am I. But if most or all peoples views are the same, then it would seem obvious they are not nice people who have little regard for anybody but themselves and i ve not heard a good word spoken about them yet.
