If it is an April fools joke, it is totally irresponsible to post it. A lot of people will read and believe this. No I have not had a sense of humour breakdown.

how can your sense of humour break down if it did not exist in the first place.

Not every one is as thick as you, relax. It will be fine.

I understand that April Fools may be difficult for you but its pretty much over now.

I treat this post with the contempt it deserves. I guess that you were born on April the first because the hat fits nicely.

How is that going to work when the BIB stop you and give you a ticket for no helmet? I wear one, but I see a lot in my area who don't, and always see at least one "foreign" looking person waiting his turn for a ticket with the usual Thai crowd..

I rest my case.

Although I realized immediately that it was an April Fools day joke, it wouldn't make any difference anyway. Those that would normally wear helmets will do so regardless, and the ones who don't like following the rules of the country won't. And, the local police do not need a reason to force a tourist to pay an extortion bribe. They make the rules up as they go.

I find it funny, when I watch westerners on motorbikes, I can see, (as anyone who has ridden a lot, in the old country, or anywhere really would) who is a bike rider. In my opinion most bike rider have fallen off enough in there riding to know the value of a helmet……..Non-bike rider thinks….(or not) “I’m on holiday….What can happen, the local don’t need them) “look at me….I’m Jane Fonder” Nobbers!

There’s nothing cool about banging your nut off a curbstone and having to eat your food though a straw and sporting the latest fashion wear in pampers for the rest of your life……..For them that still ride without a helmet, think about that……while you still can.

I have buried several friends who were killed in motorcycle accidents, two of them at 17 years of age. I regret the passing of them all and their lives still reverberate till this day, we still talk about them and we still laugh at our memories of them.

I can say that without contradiction every single one of my friends would be in on this joke from the start, because when they were alive that's exactly what they were, alive.

Not brain dead like you.............

So give us all peace with your judgemental attitude and toddle off to the Misery Clinic, bye bye.

Far from brain dead as you put it. I just find the joke not funny because some will and have been misled by it. Look at some of the replies, they have fallen hook line and sinker. Safety issues for the roads in Thailand are not to be joked about for obvious reasons. I did think that the Viagra wind up was funny though. I guess that the 'misery clinic' that you refer is in Glasgow'.

You will see how judgemental I am being when you see the road death statistics following the Songkran festival. Many of them as a result of not wearing a helmet.

You have made your point several times................you need to get off your well intentioned horse now and let us judge ourselves, no one likes getting preached at.

Humour is an individual thing bangkokrick. Obviously you didn't find this thread amusing. That is okay of course. I would imagine most people would have seen the light hearted nonsensicalness of the posting fairly quickly. Added to this is the fact it IS April 1st.

I feel sure that those who initially didn't read the post thoroughly or just looked at the headline, would soon have understood it was a bit of fun.

Irresponsible to post it? Hardly.

I'm sure the relatives and friends of people that have died in Thailand through motorcycle accidents will not be amused by this not really something to joke about .

Another new low for t v

Clearly the posting is light hearted. To take offence to it on behalf of all relatives and friends who have known someone who has died seems over the top and somewhat presumptuous.

I suspect said relatives would come back and hit them a kick squarely on the stones for being sanctimonious pr*cks coffee1.gif

You obviously have a problem with the difference between a little fun and actual taking the piss out of those who have passed on and the bereaved, which the latter nobody has done. If you want to dwell on the grim stuff then that is your problem but please don't preach about your problem eh.

I'm sure theblether is greeting this news with joy as he is planning a trip to Thailand for Songkran and if he chooses Chiang Mai then he can dispense wearing that cumbersome helmet when coming down Doi Suthep and choose instead that cute little red and white beanie we always see him wearing.

Way to go BookMan ... thumbsup.gif

If we can't have a link to insert in the opening post to this exact article, I'm afraid I'm going to shut this thread down soon.

Maybe you could allow the OP the grace of time to say, midnight tonight to locate that exact thread?

Any Link may just point back at the opening post in this thread.

If it is to be shut down so be it!
