Cha Am

I am planning to spend 3 or 4 days in Cha Am just after songkran with the wifes family and am wondering on any nice places to see or do around the area.

I am planning to relax at the beach but if there is anything that fellow visa members can recommend would be much appreciated

There's an old Royal Palace in the area, and a railway station.

Plearnwan musuem, its free and just up the road in Hua Hun, The old wooden palace at Narasuang 35 baht, Kaen Krachang National Park, the other Kings Palace in Hua Hin,

Visit Phetchaburi. Nice temple on top of the mountain and a wonderful cave a few kilometers away that has a temple built in its' caverns. Be advised that the temple on the mountain has two access points. On one side is a cable car that will bring you up and back down and the other side is a walkway for the people wanting to get some good exercise. If you go there, eat at J-M Cuisine. Great food!

Wat khao takiab in hua hin is very nice. Hua hin night market. Lots of very good golf courses but probably a bit too hot this time of year. Puk tien beach a bit of a hidden gem only thais there with good quality som tum plus a big statue of a woman in the water your missus will love it. Oh and wat huay chai mongkol.

Continuing on from narak86's post, it is a nice bicycle ride along the coast, from ChaAm to PhukTien,beach, then on to ChaoSamRan beach (25km so far), then turn inland to Petchburi (a further 15km). The wind seems to be always from the south along this beach road, you'll be flying along...

Get to Petchburi and can catch the local (red) bus to Huahin [but dismount in CH-AM]. Should be 30B + 30B for bike. You can always cycle back south if you are feeling energetic... AA

Try the raya restaurant on the beach, has a nice private area and not a lot more baht, good food.

Visit Khao Nang Phanthurat forest park,a hidden beauty and hardly any visitors,just a few km outside cha-am.
