How Long Have They Not Been Selling Dutyfree Liquor For?

I am at suwanaphum airport now, just about to fly back to nz. When I wanted to buy my 6 bottles of alcohol (me + gf) for friends back there, found to my dismay that you can't buy dutyfree liquor anymore if you're travelling to Nz, Aus, us or canada. Apparently because it's over 100ml of cabin liquids.

Pain in the arse, as have a tonne of time to do nothing here, and it's about 50% more expensive in Nz than here if my memory serves me right.

Anyone know how long they've been doing this for? And does it just apply to dodgey airports who those western countries don't trust their internal airport security, or to all flights? (e.g. Can you still buy dutyfree from Nz if you are flying to australia, since nz airports might be considered less of a security risk or something compared to dodgey asian countries lol)

Anywho was curious (and annoyed with time to kill lol)

Happened to me a couple of times flying to the UK because I have had a stopover so I have had to buy wherever my last leg starts. Not happened for a few years and even then it was hit and miss.

This has been a common occurance now for flights into Australia for some time. Some unscrupulous sellers advocate that your purchases will be meeting you on arrival in say Australia for example... this invariably doesnt happen of course.!.. alternatively you are encouraged to purchase your DF (Booze) on arrival in Oz or on your departure with a return ticket. (awaiting your arrival in Oz!)

I now purchase my grog in local shops which is invariably cheaper than DF Shops and place in my checked in luggage.

You can see the rules and regs here.

DONTs

______

Don't have liquids, aerosols or gels in containers larger than 100 millilitres in your possession. You will have to surrender these at the security screening point in order to board your aircraft.

Don't carry duty free purchased at another airport through the screening point, as it will not be allowed on flights to Australia. You risk having to surrender these items. Only duty free delivered to the boarding gate will be allowed onboard flights to Australia.
