remmy
Is it possible to convert videos taken using digital8 format in to VCD format to create VCD? Will it comes with a converter software? If i'm not wrong digital8 use mpeg2 and VCD use mpeg1 format. Although hi8 Camcorders are cheaper but I read in the forum that you have to buy Video converter/capture card so I guess it will be better to buy digital8 as it records in digital format and no extra conversion will be required to transfer to PC. I would like to convert them and send VCD copies to friends and families if possible. Any ideas please?
Tywais
The Digital8 camcorder will probably come with all the necessary software to convert it, especially to DVD format. Otherwise a couple of free conversion software to do it is TMPGEnc and VirtualDub (google these two, easy to find). Digital8 would be the easiest. We have a Sony Digital8 camcorder at our office and all the software to make VCD/DVD was included with it.
