Tat License Required For Visa?

Im openening a diving center. My Thai partner is the director i will be employed as the manager. I currently have a Non Imm Education visa which expires next month. Im running out of time. Most of the documents required for my visa run to Penang are already finished. I will be applying for a Non Imm B visa for work permit.

Do i need to have a TAT license before i can get a Non B visa. I checked with the relevent websites and they don't mention this. I keep hearing different answers. "You must have a TAT license before applying for a non B visa for work permit" But other people have told me the TAT license is required for the work permit and not the visa.

Everything else is finished and in a folder ready for the Immigration office. Just need to find a straight answer on the TAT license issue...

Confused and running out of time.

You need the Work Permit receipt to apply for the Visa.

Thanks. That website doesn't mention the TAT license either. Also i was told that if i go to a consulate outside of the Kingdom that i don't need to apply for the work permit before the visa. This is only done if changing a visa inside LOS ie. Bangkok. Is this correct? Im still confused as everybody disagrees. Lawyers, tourist police friend, people on here, aaah... Mye kow jai!!! The way i understand it is if i go to a consulate outside of the kingdom i can apply for the visa and give the request for the WP at the same time.

Thai Consulates are all outside of Thailand - inside Thailand is Immigration. You need the items mentioned on the MFA website as they oversee all Thai Consulates. You do not need any special type of visa to apply for the work permit but for it to be issued the proper visa must be in your passport.

Now i understand, this changes everything. Thankyou for explaining this. This contradicts what my waste of time lawyer said. Won't be using her service at 15K for the visa and another 15K for the WP... Company is already setup, registered etc. I have all the items mentioned by the MFA website.

So as i now understand it, i take all the items we mentioned to the consulate in Penang for example. Apply for the WP which i will get a reciept for. Then apply for the Non imm B visa with all the items on the list plus the work permit reciept. Pay fees etc. Then back to Phuket to hopefully be issued with a work permit at immigration. Then over to the TAT office with the visa and work permit to apply for the TAT license. Is this correct?

If you are getting a WP working for a Dive Company then Labour in my area (Phuket) would want to see the TAT License plus your Professional Dive Qualifications, along with evidence of Profesional Membership Dues paid for this year.
