Hi, i'm sorry i've had to create this thread, but the infinitive answer is a bit of a minefield.

My son may be coming to visit me for around six months, could someone give me a step by step guide as to the best way to do this? Best way would mean minimising border runs, but he would not be coming to work, just visit.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe the most simple way, would be apply for a double entry Tourist Visa, each entry good for a stay of 60 days, and each entry can be extended for 30 days at immigraion for 1900 Baht. Only would need to do one border run for the second entry before the visa expires.

It would be helpful to know his age and nationality for more specific information.

He's British and 27, thanks for the precise and prompt reply.

Would he apply for the Double Entry Tourist Visa at an Embassy in the UK? Would he need anything to qualify?

People have spoken about sponsers for a non imm b visa, but it all seemed a bit vague to me. Your approach seems very straight forward.

He could apply at a consulate, there are Honorary Consulates at Hull and Cardiff that have good reputations for being helpful. I don't have the details, but both accept applications by postal service if i remember correctly.

A Double Entry Tourist Visa would give up to 6 months stay with extensions and a border run in the middle

A Triple Entry Tourist Visa would give up to 9 months with extensions and 2 border runs.

It would help if we knew your Immigration status.

He might be able to get a Non Imm O Visa.

From Hull Consulate.

Category “O”

3) Visiting non Thai family working/living in Thailand

Evidence required:

a) Birth/Marriage Certificate to show relationship

b ) Letter from relative confirming they are in Thailand together with a copy of page

in their passport showing valid entry visa or a copy of their valid work permit..

Please note that either a single or multiple entry visa can be granted in these circumstances.

Now you can see why I came here for advice, in no time things move forward at a pace.

I live here and have done for the last seven years and I have a work permit.

Given this information, if he gets a category O, How long can he stay before needing to leave the country?

Thanks for your help.

He would still need to depart and return after 90 days, if he gets a one year multi-entry "O". If single entry, he would have to make arrangements for another visa after 90 days.
