Lots of real 5 star Palace hotels , places where the rich and famous come to stay, all the designer shops and just normal clothes shops , good clean restaurants and world class malls . All that you can’t get in Pattaya ! You have to give the tourists what they like/ want, and unfortunately in Thailand it’s cheap girls, boys and cannabis. In all the years I or my family/ friends have come to Thailand , we never buy anything , not even a decent swimsuit or bikini. What’s on offer, market stuff Singa T shirts. My niece stayed in a well known hotel in Pattaya and gave it a max of 3 *. She said the best thing there were the cleaners who were all from Myanmar. I really believe that the Thai politicians, authorities etc have never gone anywhere in the West. They have no idea what tourists want. One look at the road death statistics and the state of pavements of Pattaya and they’d be on the next plane out. Pattaya resembles a shanty town.
