Natthawut to submit red-shirt version of reconciliation bill

The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Red-shirt leader Jatuporn Promphan said Monday that Pheu Thai MP and red-shirt leader Natthawut Saikua would submit a red-shirt version of reconciliation bill to Parliament.

Jatuporn said the red-shirt version would seek to exclude terrorist charges and killings of demonstrators from the planned blanket amnesty.

He said Pheu Thai MPs, who are also red-shirt leaders, would not be able to explain to the red shirts if those responsible for the killings of the people were absolved in a blanket amnesty.

I would have a lot more respect for these buffoons if they held up their hands and accepted that the red shirts were collectively guilty of several murders and that they, as leaders of the movement accepted responsibility before the courts of the land.

They won't do this because they are cowards and liars

The bovine Jatuporn is indeed a buffoon as well as a bully - something along the lines of Ernst Rohm. But I have a Hunch that Natthawut is both smarter and more dangerous. I do hope I am proved wrong.

Why does one Red shirt need to announce what another one is going to do? Whatever, or whoever submits the refernced document, it may be placed at the bottom of the things to do box. With the designated groups working on this, then the free lancers, tooting their own horn/ideas, how will they ever get those who deny involment back into a meeting of Parliment?

It doesn't matter. Sonthi's tailor-made-for-Thaksin bill will be advanced to the top of the heap while the others wait to become irrelevant.

PTP will hum and ha, should we or shouldn't we, until time for the vote when they will vote in favour as a party bloc. Anybody who declines had better start seeking other employment.

Even the red shirt MPs who should by all rights recuse themselves because of self interest will vote in favour. Put money in one hand and ideals in the other and see which gets full first.

Yep that makes sense, in order to appeal to their appropriate supporters Jatuporn and Abhisit will appear not to support the bill drawn up by Sonthi......even though the passage should be a certainty

The guilty party is Thaksin and his armed mercenaries.

2 journalists describe that they saw armed protestors, so let's hear no more about the peaceful protest.

"They had AR-15s, TAR-21s, M16s, AK-47s" "They attacked soldiers with AK-47 and HK-33 assault rifles, and M79 grenade launchers."

I have said this on another thread, but i will repeat it for you.

The case against Abhisit hasn't proceeded because it hasn't got a legal leg to stand on. OTOH it hasn't been dropped because the reds would go apeshit.

Would that be Amnesty for Thaksin and Red Shirt leaders and nothing for anybody else?

Sorry your comment from another tread means what exactly?...do you seriously think the supporters of Jutaporn or Abhisit would accept their leaders capitulation regarding the bill proposed by Sonthi?

Jatuporn will do as he's told by his boss. Abhisit has no need for amnesty, so why would he "appear" not to support the bill. Yes, PTP has the numbers, but is that any reason the opposition should abandon their principles and vote for it?

PTP and Thaksin are playing a dangerous game here, one of pure self-interest and against the wishes of most of the people, red, yellow and indifferent. None want amnesty though they expect different outcomes.

Sonthi is the sacrificial goat who makes the play while PTP shams diffidence. The problem is that it is totally transparent, and courts civil unrest and possibly another coup.

I guess you missed it, the red shirts would rather have"justice" than amnesty for Thaksin....so Jatuporn is not likely to support Sonthi.....especially as he is no longer an MP......he requires the support of the red shirts to avoid fading away........

As for Abhisit, you are welcome to believe that on a personal basis he is more than happy to have his day in court.......my opinion is that regardless of the undoubted innocent of all charges outcome you advise.......he may just prefer it did not happen at all.....just an opinion

So let me get this right....

This Nattawut version guarantees more red shirts (on terror charges) will stay in jail....

but it does NOT remove the bits about Thaksin getting his charges dropped.

OK - seems like a good deal for the reds...

He wants credit for being in the loop and to show his backing for it for his factions benefit.

<deleted>? Who wants to be dragged through court even if the results are foregone? To avoid that he will suck up to Thaksin, the man that labelled him a murderer? Your estimation of the man's lack of principle says much about your own.

Jatuporn will go for the amnesty because otherwise he will fade into a cell for the rest of his life (possibly brief) and because he needs to pay lawyers to defend him (good luck with that!)

The other red leaders will try their hardest to sell the deal to the sheeple, and vote in favour, for similar reasons to Jatuporn plus their addiction to their position and Thaksin's money.

Jeff Savage says he is being blamed for crimes of others and claims mother is distressed by his arrest

Savage appeared in court alongside an Australian man Conor Purcell, who berated the judge, saying that the court had no authority to try him.

"Nobody in this country has authority over me. I'm not under Thai law. I'm only obeying international law. I'm head of the red gang," he yelled at the court, brushing off efforts by embassy officials to calm him down.

Purcell, who also claimed to have been beaten in prison, is facing similar charges to Savage. He is accused of inciting violence through a series of incendiary speeches made on the redshirts' main protest stage.

Pheu Thai Party to Submit Additional Reconciliation Bill Drafts

The ruling Pheu Thai Party is planning to propose two additional drafts for the National Reconciliation Bill to the Parliament, accompanying the draft already introduced by the Matuphum Party Leader.

Pheu Thai Party Spokesperson Prompong Nopparit revealed that the Party is planning to propose two additional drafts for the National Reconciliation Bill, including the one composed by red-shirt lawmakers.

These two drafts will accompany the draft already introduced by Matuphum Party Leader, General Sonthi Boonyaratglin.

The Pheu Thai Party has also expressed concern over the People's Alliance for Democracy or PAD's plan to organize a protest against the bill tomorrow, which could lead to a confrontation with government supporters.

Prompong said that he has asked the police to ensure peace and order to prevent the rally from turning violent.

Meanwhile, a core red-shirt leader, Jatuporn Prompan, has pointed out that the bill draft composed by the red shirt MPs, is aimed to exempt amnesty for those responsible for the deadly crackdown on the red shirt protest in 2010.

He added that the red shirt MPs will not vote for the drafts with an amnesty clause.

Jatuporn has also expressed confidence in his innocence and vowed to fight his terrorism charge.

He added that the red-shirt group will not confront the PAD protestors tomorrow, but will hold its own rally on June 2 at Muang Thong Thani complex in Nonthaburi Province.

The Interior Minister has refused to comment on the claim made by anti-graft commissioner Whicha Mahakhun that the draft amnesty bill will lead to interference with judicial agencies.

He also did not say which version of the four proposed reconciliation drafts will be brought up for consideration.

Reconciliation Bill (wonder if he's any relation to Blinky.....)

It should be quite a simple process for Jatuporn and the rest of his bandits.

If the heads of the government and army are responsible for the deaths of the protesters then the leaders of the red shirts should equally be guilty.
