Xangsamhua
Dam_n, now they'll all want to come! Struggling seniors seek better deals By Kathleen Donaghey and Kelmeny Fraser The Sunday Mail (Qld) May 27, 2012 STRUGGLING pensioners are escaping skyrocketing living costs at home to "live like kings" in holiday hot spots overseas. Triple the number of pensioners are now packing their bags to live out their final years in Asia compared with eight years ago. Thailand, the Philippines and China are among the destinations of choice for retirees, government figures reveal, with the number of Australian pensioners in Asia leaping from 372 in 2002 to 1298 in 2010 - a rise of 249 per cent. Full-time maids, beachfront units, dining out and cheap medical care are just some of the attractions. "I would be working until I was 90 if I stayed in Australia - the prices are crazy," said one former Gold Coaster, found at Bangkok's airport with a suitcase and golf bag. Popular Post Berkshire
Yes, a rather ominous development. We need to slow down this wave before it's too late. What we need are these Thai-hating, Thai-bashing zealots to be more aggressive and vocal in announcing to prospective newbies that Thailand sucks. "There's nothing here." "It's expensive." "Thais are racist and hate foreigners." "Dual-pricing everywhere." "Thai women are only interested in foreigners' money." "The roads are dangerous because no one knows how to drive." "It's dirty because everyone dumps their trash everywhere." "The air is toxic to breath." "The food is terrible and not safe to eat." "Everyone is corrupt." Don't come! Go to the Philippines! You've been warned. Maybe that'll do it.

It's what happens when the lipstick comes off the pig and they realise that "after selling their home at Kippa-Ring, north of Brisbane" they are stuck here where their pad Thai is more expensive than it was in 1997 and tastes like sh!t. Nah.... the thought of being able to come here and don the duty of telling everyone else what is and is not an acceptable opinion will be too much for some to miss out on.
