Good Massage People In Chiangmai - Ongoing List...

Recommended Posts

In this topic that got closed because there are too many pervs out there

I made a suggestion for an ongoing Massage recommendation thread.

http://www.thaivisa....39#entry5344039

---

Here it is:

To start off, from the other thread I quote the OP:

I've had hundreds of massages from hundreds of girls. One girl stands out as clearly the best.

Her name is Joy and she works at Full Moon on Loi Khor Rd. Joy offers a LEGIT massage, no Happy Endings beyond complete and utter relaxation. Her English is decent and she pays absolute attention to personal requests. I prefer a hard massage and while small in stature, she has some of the strongest hands you'll find.

Joy is there most every day until 10pm-11pm or so. You'll find Full Moon on Loi Khor Rd. on the left hand side when going down (it's a one-way street) towards the night market. All girls are wearing a uniform and Full Moon is one store front from the corner of the last main road before the night bazaar.

If Joy is not available, i highly recommend waiting as I cannot vouch for any of the other girls or what types of massage they're offering.

I have a few recommendations myself (and more, once I track down the names and addresses of the others).

---

I haven't been for a while, but Ajarn Sinchai is considered a Grand Master. He is blind, and has worked with royalty. He is not too expensive (I am guessing at the 300-400b range these days), and is very good with specific injuries. He was the massage therapist at a major hospital for years. He has a new location and a new website.... http://www.sinchaimassage.com/

---

Again, I hope this info is not outdated, but Khun BoonSong at Wat Sum Pow (just inside from Tapae Gate) is very good. I saw him regularly for a couple of years. Firm, probing, but not invasive, or extreme in his 'chiropractics', I can really recommend him. It used to be 120 baht, but that was a few years ago. (No AC).

=== ===

I have three or four more, but I will have to check where they are, etc..

Bring them on!

AND A SUGGESTION PLEASE!!! Be detailed!!! Why they are good, perhaps a comment on their style, price, location, air-con or not. etc etc. Let's get a useful data base going here.

Cheers, Mark

Huean Sabai at the Rimping Sansai (Michok Plaza). Excellent foot massage, relatively quiet, comfortable chairs. Upstairs has thai massage which is decent, but prefer going there for foot massage.

Massage Place by movie theater in Airport Plaza (4th floor). Nice big chairs recline all the way, they dim the light. Excellent foot massage. Never tried the Thai.

Gotta love a good thai massage, but a decent foot massage in a quiet shop is a great way to catch a few zzzs mid day.

There are two massage places in the basement of KadSuanKaew. I have had good experiences at both. 140-150bt/hour.

One is called 'Golden Hands" (I think), and it is right beside the basement food-court.

The other has the lovely name of "The Doi Saket Chiangmai Seniors Citizen Club". It is at the back on the right of KSK - just up a few stairs into the Kad Muang Traditional Bazzar and to the right.

I was there today and had a particularly good traditional Thai massage with a woman named K. Gik. I was very pleased. Firm but no surprises. Very nice slow deep movements. And good awareness. She even took me through some of the twisty stuff (that I usually don't like), and I felt very safe in her hands. Speaks a little English.

For the past 3 yrs, whenever i need a massage, i go to the massage school behind Rimping Market (nim center - across from airport plaza). I think it is the Old Medicine Hospital, in English. Entry from back of rimping parking lot or on the other main street near the front of the school.

I personally go there for a "nerve" massage from Khun Sert. He is very knowledgeable about nerve techniques and fixes my bad shoulder and back when i need him. For an overall strong, tonic thai massage, Sert's sister (don't know her name) gives a very penetrating yet enjoyable massage if that is what you need.

If you're in Mae Jo and you like it hard, there are a blind couple who both provide massage in a simple terraced house. I have only had the guy. Hard, but skillful. Great idea for a thread. I've only just seen it, shame it hasn't received more posts. I've also had consistently good massages at Fah Lanna (only been to the branch near night bazaar)

Blind massage Mae Jo:

Thanks. I'll try this place. Is it walk-in or do you need to book? Hourly rate?

I regularly use the blind massage places in the city. They're not suitable if you want a relaxing spa-like experience but they are very good at freeing up knots and tight muscles which requires a fair amount of pressure and pain. 180 THB/hour

Was 100 baht. Not been for 6 mths but they seemed to live there and the sign is still up outside.

There is also another shop with mum and 2 daughters who are good for both Thai and oil. From the main Mae Jo junction, 2 or 3km along 'Sahakon' road, on the RHSide. But looking at google earth i can't recall if its before or after the OTOP Community Massage (now closed)/ Fitness area

I'd be interested in hearing any comments about Lek Chaiya, a very well established place 100m or so up the walking street from Thapae Gate (inside the old city). It's not your average routine massage place but specialises in treating nerve problems. I'd always heard good things and had some good work a few years back with herbal compresses on a lower back problem. However, I went recently with a similar problem and the woman insisted on twanging some of the wiring on the inside of the upper thighs (excuse the lack of technical language here!) - something which was very painful and I told her this. She carried on a little despite my comments and left me feeling very tender. A work colleague had bad lower back pain and he went to the same place telling them of this. Within an hour or so of getting home he was unable to walk. A hospital visit and a scan informed him of a trapped nerve. I wonder if a place which specialises in nerve-touch massage should do more exploratory diagnostic work before launching into treatment?

The purpose of this is not to bad mouth the place but just to get people's further experiences. Maybe a physio is the place to go for real problems e.g. Lanna Hospital's back pain dept (very positive experience recently apart from the uncomfortable chairs while you wait!). I'll give some of the people mentioned in previous posts and see.

I haven't been to Golden Hands for years because I was tired of all the talking. I only used them for foot massage then, but a friend felt funny with a person giving him a massage so I just totally stopped using them.

I still use The Doi Saket Senior Citizens one. I had a foot massage the other day and it was good. While I was having a foot massage, I saw a woman there that gave me some massages years ago and she is terrific. I don't know her name. She is a bit heavy set and is tanned. It looks like she is doing traditional Thai massage. Actually, I lucked out 3 years ago and got her again. Do you know if they let you request a specific person there?

I am getting a pretty good Traditional Thai massage at Sabai Sabai Massage on Ratchaphuek Rd. She used to be near the Taiwan Restaurant, but she has moved around the corner. Anyway, from Lemon Tree/Pern's/Salsa Kitchen walking towards Nimmanhaemin make the first right, go 1 block and make a right then make the first left. They are on the right side of the street past the laundry and before the good noodle (kow soi and gwatio beef) place (on the left). I think they is right where a guest house is located. 180 baht for an hour. Small place; only 3 mattresses. I only know two of the ladies and they are both good. Oh, just a basic place and outside they might have a television on. They usually don't chatter much.

I've had good massages there, but I'm hardly in the area. It is good to know that they are still going strong. I remember they were pretty reasonably priced, right?

I did massage for years in the states and have searched high and low. Seniors citizens club at KSK is pretty solid. Khun Sai Ping is considered the best there by the others and Khun Oh does really good connective tissue massage. Really everyone there is solid and can't say I have had a bad one after about 50 or so.

In case your wondering they are not all senior citizens but they donate a portion of the proceeds to the Senior citizen club.

Sansai:

Have to give a shout out for a new place near Sausage King - "Norm Thai Massage"

I've been to see Khun Ge (short 'e' like 'get' without the 't', in my english accent anyway) who seems to be the owner, twice in 2 weeks. She is strong, professional and clearly experienced. Her natural style is therapeutic hard Thai massage - there is another lady working there, Khun Ging, who I have yet to try but apparently she is softer. Ge has some interesting manouvres - I went through a lot of pain the first time but I went back for more.

This didn't give me the option to quote WJMARK:

Ajarn Sinchai is AMAZING. In July, I was hit by a motorbike while crossing the street resulting in a torn ankle ligament. After my cast came off, I was seeing Ajarn Sinchai 2 times a week for about 6 weeks. He works out of his home and sends people to pick you up and drop you off afterwards. His massages are 2 hours and 500b. I also suffer from lower back pain which he was able to help with as well. I honestly feel it's because of him I was walking so soon after my accident. My ankle still is not 100% and I'm sure never will be, but I'm no longer on crutches (which in Thailand is a blessing!) and I owe it to him!

Thanks for the recommendation. About a 3 minute walk from my house. I saw it being built and open and was wondering if it was any good.

A couple more:

Khun Aan at The Doi Saket Chiangmai Seniors Citizen Club is very talented - I saw her about 15 times in the last 2 months. Firm but smart - good neck work. I know that most workers at this place are good, but I do like K. Aan...

Khun Pet at Nature Massage on Loi Kroh rd. This is the place that does foot massages on the street at night, and many of the practitioners there are only so-so. But K. Pet is serious and also very talented.

K Pet and K Aan have been my massage people all winter.

despite your recommendations I dont think many of us will be rushing down Loi Kroh and then zimmering back to the senior citizens club for massage.

Thats nots the image I want to portray of how I spend my time in Chiang Mai.

There are a lot of foot massage people on Loh Kroh... and a lot of them suck. Where along the road is Nature massage?

Agreed Khun Aan at DSSC is good. Not painful but very crafty. I keep discovering good people there and they have few stinkers.

Do TV'ers try the massage at Wat's? I used to go to one near Makro/Big C which was a great value but its too far to drive now. I would be interested to know about Wat Jed Yod. If the massage is good and what hours. Any feedback?

A work colleague had bad lower back pain and he went to the same place telling them of this. Within an hour or so of getting home he was unable to walk.

.....exactly why this thread-topic is so relevant. So often(all-ways) it is 'pay yo money, take yo chance' when getting a massage and I have had my fair share of disappointing, but not disabling work-overs by people with sever distraction-disorders.

I do yoga everyday and now have no use for a full body massage, but a good foot massage can be a real pleasure.

Thanks for the recommendations - hoping the good practitioners get the business they deserve. wai2.gif
