Lucky was found and rescued by one of my neighbors from an empty lot. She was on her period and was covered in ticks and fleas. She was so skinny she barely had energy to walk and hide. My neighbor kindly fed her for almost a week until he could gain her trust and then picked her up and brought her to his house. Unfortunately, she can’t stay there for a number of reasons.

Lucky has been spayed and is now tick/flea free. She’s a purebred cocker spaniel.

We tried to find her owners (we assumed she had them at some point) but couldn’t. She was so skinny that I’m not sure how well her previous owners took care of her anyway, so she’s probably better off with a new family.

She’s a very sweet dog that loves everybody (including other dogs). She’s about four years old, according to the vet.

If you can give Lucky a forever home, please send me a message.

Cute dog, but I am unfortunately not in a position to adopt her. It will probably help if you tell where you (and Lucky) are located.

Sorry, I'm in Hua Hin.

If you can pass the info to anybody you know, I'd really appreciate it.

Thank you, meatboy. I'm crossing my fingers that she finds a great home. I also have a cocker spaniel and they are loyal, loving, funny dogs... I wish I could keep her but I already have three dogs (the cocker and two soi dogs) that I need to take with me to Europe next year. I'm not in the position to take in another dog.

If you know of anybody who might be interested, please share this.

she has no microchip??? i would think that a pure bred breed that could very likely have been owned by a farang (thais seem to go for the shitzus and similar or larger pure bred types but not 100 %, just a wild shot) would have been chipped? even in israel, where the chipping is done but the listing is not centralized, usually original owners can be found...and what about lost and found for stolen dogs? or the kennel associations...

possibly she was stolen from someone's yard and then she ran, or got thrown out? we see that all the time here, when a purebred gets stolen then tossed because it doesnt cooperate or the thieves find they cant off load that particular dog... long shot,

she looks sweet..

Microchips in Thailand? No. The only reason somebody would microchip a dog in Thailand is because they're flying the animal to Europe and have to do it. There are no kennel associations here. Lost and found for dogs? Unfortunately, I think you're giving Thailand too much credit.

This is the thing. Hua Hin is not that big. There are only three vets here. If the dog I love gets lost, the first thing I'm going to do is print out posters and take them to all three vet offices. Then I'm going to post something on Thai visa saying "I lost my dog, please help!" I'm going to do everything I can to find her.

Also, a good, responsible owner does not breed a dog repeatedly (like she obviously had been) and does not allow her to get as skinny as she was. Could she have been stolen? I guess so. I think it's more likely that they left the gate open and she ran off or got lost. She was on her period so she probably freaked out and tried to get away from the million male dogs chasing her.

That doesn't excuse the obviously irresponsible owners. Honestly, they don't deserve her back (even if I could find her original owners, and I couldn't). Since I paid to have her spayed, I wonder if they would even want her back. They were probably making money selling the puppies.

Cocker spaniels are very loving, very loyal dogs. I feel terrible for Lucky and she definitively deserves to get a break. She can't stay with my neighbor much longer and I would love for her to get a real family.

Oh, I understand, believe me. I want to make sure she finds a good home, not just somewhere to live.

Would you be willing to help transport elsewhere?

I don't have a car, but it might be possible to arrange something, depending where and the circumstances. Send me a message if you have something in mind.

of course there are kennel associations. http://www.kcthailand.org/

there are dog shows, kennel clubs, breeder listings, just not a lot, and it seems only certain breeds are the lucky ones (huskies, shitzus, rotties and shepherds, yellow labs, goldens, + the thai breeds... im sure there are other popular breeds but dogs as a hobby is a rich man's sport they even hae jusnior handling...

however, i was correct in guessing the popoular breeds... cockers are not on the list, but shitzus, huskies, et al are on the list... even saw some whippets... and some lhasas... and there are shows coming up, maybe u can find someone at a show that would be interested in a cocker spaniel as a pet...

I meant no kennel associations in Hua Hin. While some people might buy their dogs from breeders, I think that's the minority in Thailand. Most people here will get their dog from a private person breeding her/his own dogs. And since Lucky has had puppies, they were obviously doing the same thing (breeding her for profit). The dog show thing is a good idea, thanks. I'm going to look into that.

Lucky needs to find a home ASAP. She couldn't stay with the original neighbor who rescued her anymore so she's now staying with another neighbor and her living situation is less than ideal. Please, if anybody can help, even if it's just by sharing this information, I'd really appreciate it.

Hi I have sent you an inmail with an offer of a home and I would collect her if you approve of the offer.

She look very typical of a Cocker, I had one in the UK very affecionate and loyal and also great with kids which the main reason for the offer we have a son 18months old and would like him to have a dog to grow up with.

Actually microchips is quite common here...my dog has it, the neighbour's have it and so too at least half dozen people I know. Go to the nearest vet and ask them to check. A red note might be an incentive for the vet to check or at least refer you to someone who can. smile.png

Good luck on your offer. I have a 11 year old daughter, new home, fenced yard, and 4 fenced rai behind my home and prior cocker owner and it seemed not good enough

Jeffrey, gwynt, I apologize for the lack of response over the last few days. I lost my 15-year-old cat suddenly and I’m overwhelmed with grief right now. Please give me a few days to deal with this and I will send both of you a message.
