Purely bumping this as the WC is now over thankfully and we can back to the serious discussion of transfer speculation.

Balotelli won't be coming for sure, not at 30+ million pounds. Rather haver Sanchez quite frankly.

Still think Carrick could be moved and hope Cleverly makes the first team.

I see Hargreaves has missed out on the pre-season trip and has had to go back to America to see the specialist.

Not looking good for the lad......I feel sorry for him.....he's been missed desperately by both United and England.

Gary Neville also out with a calf muscle injury again.....his last season,so shouldnt expect too much from him.....surely Rafael will be given a chance to shine this season ?

The chances of Owen Hargreaves geting back to the EPL must be diminishing ,your'e right truly a blow for a player who has so much to offer. Gary Neville even if he gets back will surely play second fiddle to Rafael. Ferdinand is also a ? mark amd his long term future must be in doubt. he is picking up far to many injuries and there on the training ground. Only good news is that young defender Craig Cathcart who Ferguson has great hopes for is on the mend after loan spells at Watford and Plymouth. Valencis is also not far away.

Man United coming to town (Atlanta) in a couple of weeks to play a friendly against the US. Ought to be an interesting evening

Are you sure it's United? I'm not big on the whereabouts of places in the US but they are playing in Toronto, Philadelphia, Kansas and Houston.

However, Man City (the current richest club in the world and future best club) :D are playing in the Georgia Dome, Atlanta against Club America on the 28th july. ;)

Come on you Red's, why did no one pick up on that? :whistling:

Sorry BJ, my knowledge of Atlanta was confined to "Gone With the Wind", I really must get out and see if there any new movies on the circuit..

Not a lot happening in the transfer market, just a zillion rumours, and the door closes shortly. I fervently wish that Fergie signs a goal scoring midfielder one who could possibly score as many as that "Own Goals" bloke who did a ripping job last season

Hi fellow reds, seams we are skint no major signings comming in,do you think our squad is good enough this season?

I would like to see a attacking scoring midfielder comming in,and maybe a extra striker.

Cannot see either happening,so with squad we have cannot see us lifting the premier league but we will be there or there abouts come may.

Vidic apparently has agreed to a new contract. We have many strikers. I work like a young scholes.

I see Man United have put 4,000 season tickets on open sale. I always thought there was a huge waiting list. If this is the case, I know many who only kept theirs for fear of never getting one back again and will probably now let them go.

Last year United lost the title because they had no adequate cover when Rooney was injured.

Berbatov wasnt up to it,Owen injured already but only a bit part player anyway,Macheda still inexperienced and coming back from injury.

I think you have to hope that Hernandez will become another Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.....he's a bit of an unknown quantity.

Good news Vidic has signed a new contract, although he isnt the player he was a couple of years ago.

Sadly doesnt look as though Hargreaves will make it back (sorely missed) and the likes of Ferdinand,Neville and Scholes will only be used sparingly.

But a chance for Rafael,Nani,Evans and Smalling to shine and Ryan Giggs might have to play more than you think, even at his age.

Can United win the Premiership ? Cant really see it,I'm afraid unless Rooney hits the same form as last year and United have unearthed a gem in Hernandez.

Same goes for the Champions League.....FA Cup and Carling Cup more realistic trophies.

But you never know.......Chelsea maybe not as strong as last year,Arsenal have to keep Fabregas to stand a chance of the title,Spurs not quite good enough, despite what Harry says,Liverpool I think not.......the big danger could be City if they can keep all their highly paid players happy and if Mancini is up to the job........but dont tell Mr.BoJangles or else he'll be going into orgasmic overdrive !jap.gif

I copied this link from Yahoo, Singapore. As a Man.U. supporter, I am curious about this sensitivity.

http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20100721/tap-malaysia-religion-islam-fbl-offbeat-0193655.html

I guess this Islamic paranoia about the "devil" logo on the Manchester United badge will preclude the team being purchased by Muslims (Arabs) if the Glazer boys can be booted?

Any comments?

As the link mentions :-

Also off limits are the shirts of teams including Brazil, Portugal, Barcelona, Serbia and Norway, all of which carry images of the cross on their team emblems.

I suspect it was a slow news day in Malaysia

Come to think of it what about all the teams that carry beer makers logos etc on their shirts ?

.

Classic Paul Scholes...

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes: The last thing we want is for Manchester City to finish ahead of us in the Premier League this season

Red Devils veteran would rather the Eastlands club be in the Second Division

By Anthony Sciarrino

27 Jul 2010 00:58:00

Paul Scholes is worried about the prospect of Manchester City finishing above Manchester United in the Premier League this season.

City have never finishing ahead of United since the formation of the Premier League, last ending a season higher than their city rivals in the old First Division in 1991, where the Eastlands club wound up in fifth place, three points ahead of the sixth place Red Devils.

However, Scholes has revealed that the United team are concerned about the way the way in which City is improving, and confessed that having City finish higher than them is unacceptable.

"The last thing we want is City above us," Scholes told The Mirror.

"It's not happened since I've been here and we'll just have to see what happens there.

"They've bought so many players but whether they can gel together remains to be seen.

"It's great for the city to have two top teams, but I'd rather them be down in the Second Division, like they were ten years ago.

“There's always been big rivalry between us anyway, but even more so with the power they've now got."

City have already spent £80million in the transfer market, and are also heavily interested in a £30 million move for Inter Milan starlet Mario Balotelli and £24 million-rated Aston Villa midfielder James Milner.

Scholes believes that City’s exorbitant spending will vault them into title contention this season, and the United veteran also expects Chelsea and Liverpool to challenge for the Premier League as well.

"You have got to say Chelsea will be up there, but the rest you just don't know.

"Liverpool could be, it just depends on how they start with a new manager. But you always have to be wary of Liverpool.

"The season before last they were really close to making a major challenge. Last season, for whatever reason, it didn't work out for them. But it's much the same group of players, with Joe Cole added to it as well. So I'm sure they will be a good team.

"Petr Cech and Didier Drogba will be a big miss for Chelsea at the start of the season. Cech has been a great keeper for them over past few seasons. But they have a couple of keepers capable of stepping in.

"It's at the start of the season as well, the first month, maybe they'll only miss three or four games. I don't think they'll miss them too much. Drogba should be back for second game of season.

"Last year we didn't win what we wanted to win but we weren't that far off. You don't want to use excuses, but the injuries we had were shocking. Hopefully most of us can stay fit this year and hopefully we can go one step further than last season."

If you get a chance try and catch the highlights of the United v MLS All Stars game in front of 70,000 fans. Clinical finishing from Macheda (2) Hernadez (first outing) could be the buy of the season , Cleverley and a suberb free kick from Gibson. Before anyone tels us the All Stars are rubbish they havn't been beaten before according to www.tribalfootball.com
