I know we are going on about the midfield and back 4 but let's face it, the forwards and wingers didn't help the cause. How many real chances did we have? Phil Jag made a nice save but all the money we are throwing at our attack, hopefully it will pay off 'on a regular basis'.

Evans is supposedly in training and might be back. Carrick didn't do too bad to be fair, the issue was more in midfield, and how they were unable to physically assert themselves. I really think United are missing and have been missing a physical presence in the centre of midfield. I was surprised that they didn't stat with Anderson last night, given the way Everton play and that the defense had to be totally rejigged.

didn't see the match like so can't comment on anderson. or as he's apparently now known, 'andes ron':

James, there was very few chances created. A lot of possession, but option the right areas. Wasteful passing in the final third, and no fluidity. Uniteds midfield was bullied, and really shows the need for a midfielder in the Keane, Vierra mold. I have to be honest, I am surprised that other clubs haven't been after Felini, he has been one of Evertons better players over the last two years, and certainly is a more finished article than say Rodwell.

Hopefully a good wake up call, as a number of players last night were not at the races. Hopefully the next trip over will be a better result when we play Southampton.

We were average, at best.. Everton, totaly on top from the off, bar a few forays from United.

De Gea, excellent, as was Kagawa. No time for the rest, Scholes was run off the park, unfortunatly. Dismal but, its the first game of the season and, you doubters will doubt... ;)

We lose one game and everybody thinks it is the end of the world.

Everton fully deserved the win and will be a match for anyone this season.

United need to sort Nani out he must learn to cross a ball or do one and Rooney needs to get on a diet the fat bastard, hopefully we will get players back at the back next weekend and not have the same situation as last season.

Kagawa was impressive and i would like to see him playing with RVP and Wellbeck on Satdee.

Another stat i was amazed by was the Gibson never losing a game in the prem for Everton!

Well done to the Toffeee's who will be stronger with Kevin mierles

SOROS’S FAMILY OFFICE GETS HANDS ON MAN UNITED SHARES

ARTICLE |

21 AUGUST, 2012 04:15 PM

| BY ATTRACTA MOONEY @campdenfb.com

Manchester United may have failed to kick off the season with a good start, but the British football club has the backing of one of the US’s best known investors.

George Soros, the billionaire hedge fund manager, has brought almost 8% of the club's listed shares through his family office’s investment arm, Quantum Partners, according to a filing with US regulators.

Soros’s investment makes him one of the team’s biggest backers, after the Glazers – the family which controls the Premier League side.

The Glazer family acquired Manchester United in a controversial buy-out in 2005. After speculation the club’s initial public offering would take place in Asia, the Glazers recently floated a portion of the football side in New York. It is thought the floatation raised about $233 million (€186.6 million).

Soros, who converted his hedge fund into a family office last year, is chairman of Soros Fund Management – although day-to-day investment decisions are handled by his sons.

Yes mate we deserved to lose, but what annoy's me is fergie the other week having a go at city saying they will never play 18 year olds, and he keeps Wooton on the bench and play's our best midfielder imho as a centerback who was given the job of marking Fellani who ran him ragged.

Gibson was hounded out of united, i think he is a honest footballer but just not united level.

According to a Beeb article, SAF accused Everton of just lumping the ball forward to Fallaini and said that United were the better footballing team.

Thats funny, I thought I saw him at the match?

Arsenal need a classy third striker and Bumbletop still fits that bill, but I doubt Wenger would see it that way (and true Arsenal fans would probably not accept an ex-Spud - fans are idiots like that!). He's too stubborn to accept that he cannot rediscover any shred of talent outside the training ground in his third so-called striker, Marouanne Chamakh (can you call a lad who got one first team goal and one assist last season in 19 appearances in league and cup a striker?).

Wenger got away with it last year with only one main striker, so I'm sure he will try to get away with it again with two main strikers this year. As always, I wait for Wenger to make me eat my words.

First game of the season and looking a bit rusty, but the one good thing about Utd losing, is that you are almost guaranteed a reaction in the next game. Looking forward to that.

Don't think it was a terrible performance, just lacked a bit of invention and artistry. Positives definitely were De Gea and Kagawa.

Learn from defeat and move on. Early days. And other upbeat clichés...

I was reading early on NANI could be axe for the next game againt Fulham also wont be happy that the contact as stalled again due to his performance whistling.gif I think we should sell him to Juv or whoever and sign KAKA on loan for a year with the choice of buying him smile.png

I think it was quite obvious early on that Nani was not the real deal and likely never would be. He does have flashes of brilliance granted, but more often than not he frustrates the h3ll out of me. Still, at least he has cut down on all that diving he used to do.

We need (and have needed for a couple of years) a more consistent version of Nani and someone who is a dead ball specialist.

We most certainly do not need Kaka. For so many reasons...

Fellaini was a laughing stock for the first couple of seasons in the Premier League and it shows what a good judge of a footballer Moyes is by sticking by him. Rodwell is yet another example of a young, overrated English player who the media and other factions with vested interests are trying to put up. If he was any other nationality,he wouldn't be given the time of day.A good bit of business by Everton to get the amount of money they did.

He is one of those players who makes a right nuisance of himself. Playing against he must be insufferable! I mean that as a compliment. That said, he started pissing me right off with the way he was stopping us taking quick free-kicks. Bit of conniving side to him.

I think a team like Everton is a good fit for him. Reckon if he tried making a step-up to a "bigger" team, he could struggle and end up being another Carroll.

Danny Signs Extension With Club He’s Supported All His Life

August 22, 2012-RoM

Manchester United have today confirmed that Danny Welbeck has signed a four-year extension at the club to keep him with us until at least 2016.

“Playing for United is all I’ve ever wanted to do – it’s the club I’ve supported all my life,” he told the official site. “I can’t wait for the challenge of the new season to play my part in helping the team compete for trophies. I’m learning all the time from the best manager in the game and I’m keen for that to continue alongside the world class players in the squad.”

Sir Alex Ferguson reflected on Danny’s career so far but reckons we have plenty more to look forward to.

“Danny has been with the club since he was eight years old and has made fantastic progress in the last couple of years – first out on loan and last year as a regular in the first team,” the manager said. “He has become an important player at international level as well, as the maturity of his performances at the European Championships showed. This year is another important one for him. He has a bright future ahead of him.”
