Been awhile so I think I will just start by saying happy belated new year to everyone.

Good results over the holidays and kept us in position for our usual 2nd half charge.

Suprised by the news about Gerrard - would have thought he would have been the one with the four stitches from taking a dive and hitting a table.

Nice to have a chance for a little revenge with Harry in the coming weeks.

they'll go through of course. cracking result from derby though.

With SAF saying the kids will go again in the 2nd match, I am not so optimistic. Clearly the eyes are on bigger things right now.

when you have a big squad like us and play in alot of competitions, chances are your team will become experienced. compare the starting line-up this coming sunday against chelski with the one you played against last night before getting too excited mate.

anyways, fergie already said you guys deserved to win.

Ronaldo involved in Ferrari crash

Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo has written off his Ferrari in a crash near Manchester Airport.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/7817764.stm

The 23-year-old winger was driving the sports car through a tunnel beneath the runways when he smashed into a barrier.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said his team-mate Edwin van der Sar was following in his Bentley, but the Dutch keeper was not involved in the crash.

Ronaldo was not injured in the accident, which happened on the A538 Altrincham Road at about 1020 GMT.

One lane of the road has been closed while the debris is removed.

'Training as normal'

A GMP spokesman said an investigation into the crash, which happened between Wilmslow and Hale, Cheshire, was under way.

Police said the Portuguese international gave a negative breath test to officers at the scene.

The red Ferrari was badly damaged in the collision, with the front edge of the vehicle completely demolished.

One of the wheels had come off in the incident and was about 200 yards behind where the vehicle had come to rest.

Manchester United have confirmed that Ronaldo is fine and is training with the club.

A club spokesman said: "He was involved in an incident this morning. No other cars were involved.

"He's fine and is training as normal with the team this morning."

Onlooker Jody Lomax was driving behind Ronaldo when the crash happened.

"The Ferrari went straight into the wall, his front left-hand wheel came off and then Ronaldo got out of the car," he said.

"I was shocked. Anyway he was all right, he was walking - he was a bit shaken."

Mr Lomax added: "Obviously I was stunned at seeing a Ferrari go in the wall and seeing Ronaldo. "He was obviously shaken - who wouldn't be? - but it's a shame about the car as well."

Wow, i think the key to this & the blame shoudl be with Van Der Sa, he obviously didn't organise the Wall properly !!! :o

Sorry, couldn't resist..

From a human point of view im glad he's ok, but Man U players seem to be involved in too many of these situations, maybe Sir Fergie the lying speeding champagne socialisist ought to let his players go through the courts without the best solicitors in the world in these situations like the rest of us insignificant people who may end up dead at the bumper of one of his superstar footballer that copies him ... such as Martins.

hehe. i'm impressed with ronaldo here. he can get out and walk away from a ferrari write-off but a tap on the ankle from a premier league defender and he goes down faster than a ten-bob hooker.

the difference is stevie boy there were no cameras or refs around :D

jesus, how fast was he going?

it only takes about 50k to do that kind of damage when hitting a wall.

On a different note, I see Mr. Jose will be on hand for our clash with the blues. Alot is being written that he is there to scout for next draw with Utd in the Champions League - I don't believe it.

His other motives are as follows.

a) unsettle big phil and the boys (hope it works)

and

:o the game is only a distraction, the real reason he is in town is CITY.

I take that back. there was one camera apparently...

I find it somewhat humorous that the police give a guy a breath test for booze at 10 am and are appealing to the world for witnesses.

stevie, when you ding your car up on the way back from the pub, do the police up there send out an APB for witnesses?

i'm guessing that the officers on the scene were city fans. if there'd be a convenient staircase nearby ronaldo could have found himself headlong down it.

surely they could have done the old "walk in a straight line" or "dribble a ball on your head" routine to see if he was pissed up on the way to practice?

ah that would've confused him though. he might have thought they were referees and flung himself dramatically and pathetically to the floor.

We'd have missed and he'd have hit the post :o

As for the breath test. Normal practice in the UK now. Many people have lost their licence for being over the limit the morning after drinking.

Cristiano Ronaldo promises to join Real Madrid revolution

Cristiano Ronaldo has, via Jorge Mendes, his agent, reached a verbal agreement with Florentino Pérez, the former Real Madrid president, to join the Spanish club, according to reports in Spain. It is understood that Pérez will use this promise when he stands for election as Real president in 2010.

There is a growing conviction in Madrid that the Manchester United and Portugal forward will sign for the Spanish champions at some point, a view reiterated by Pepe, the Real defender who is a Portugal team-mate of Ronaldo. “He has shown he wants to come here with the statements he has made,” Pepe said. “We’ll see if he still desires to join us this summer.”

Real are also monitoring the situation with Carlos Tévez, whose contract with United expires in June. This indicates, though, that uncertainty reigns supreme at the Bernabéu and a rerun of last summer’s shenanigans over Ronaldo could be on the cards. In the short term, Real’s priority remains on the wing, with Antonio Valencia, of Wigan Athletic, and Ángel Di María, of Benfica, at the top of their list.

Makes for good reading in Spain I bet and might sell a few extra copies in the UK.

Funny how the bindippers are getting worried about United. :o Benitez has had his Keegan moment in January :D .

Great result tonight, and United were excellent, even with what looked initially to be a little lightweight team sheet.

Should have been 5 - 0.

Best performance of the year...period.

We are only 11 days in :o , but I know what you mean. Totally outplayed Chelsea. Funny, quiet in here today, none of the usual lurkers.
