Ford Mk1 Escort In Thailand

Featured Replies

Just picked up one of these rare cars in Thailand! Needs work but its quite interesting to see them out here.

Anyone know where I can get parts for it in Chiang Mai? I can only speak about 20 words of Thai so somewhere that has an english speaking staff member would be useful.

I think there was a poster called Murf, who had a restored one of these. Orange car, very fast...anyone know if he's still about? Great little car if you can get parts.

Nicely shot.

so whats with the video that makes the simple act of driving a car from bkk to chaing mai sound like the dangerous adventure of a lifetime?

a touch overwrought dontcha think?

nice car though. im partial to bmw 2002s.

Could be the vendor Murphy = Murf ?

If you want a fast Mk 1 then check out the AA Insurance Brokers / Securitas racer at BIRA - leader in the 'Retro' series of races. Also interesting is the driver is also 'Retro' as he must be the oldestr racer in Thailand !

Teriffic car, I had a 1974 one in the UK.

But the rust killed it in 1984.
