I have said when I first went to The Firehouse Restaurant how great their Premium burger was, so to give a bump, while in Bangkok went again. I had to use a more than a couple napkins, because burger was so juicy, and with a side of steak fries and a jar of dill picles there on table, I was a happy puppy. Not sure what seasoning he is using with beef, bur I would buy a bunch if I figured it out! WIfe ordered one of his tacoos, soft tortilla, with enough TENDER beef, it could not be folded and she used a knife and spoon. Salsa was homeade and some onside as well. You are really missing out if you don't try this place! Parking in rear for those who drive, and although it is small, well worth the trip!

oh...c'mon man...you talk up the food then don't say where it's located...and yer wife was eating a taco with a spoon and a knife? she sounds adorable!...

Yes, look to the right of this page and you will see they are a sponser. My wife can eat spoon or sticks, and don't waste a thing, and I wasn't gonna laugh at her eating a taco open faced with the spoon as I begging for bites from her! Anyway Sukumvit 11 at the end, to your left! I forgot to mention they are a sponser, and the owner is a friendly American.

Is the friendly American from the backwoods ;-)

I walked past last night and it looks very inviting!

Will try the burgers ASAP and hope they are as good as the place looks.

His restaurant is based on a real firehouse, and I believe he said he was from Hawaii, The Backwoods is me, and from North Carolina, and was a Big game guide after retireing from army! Backwoods was the name of guide service

Anyways I ahve to tell you, if you get a burger, lean over the table good, the meats thick and juicy. I will make trips to the city just for a meal, and this premium burger is beter than most steaks I have eaten in this town!!

up sukh soi11 on the left? sounds like it's near the Federal Hotel and they serve a mean cheese burger in their coffee shop...burger wars on sukh soi 11! (disoriented falangs and locals hurling fried onions and squirts of ketchcup...)

Federal burger mob: 'burger an ni dai sinverguenzas!' and then the Firehouse mob: ' burger an noon mai dai pobre hia (monitor lizards) de mierda!'

and then tutsi wanders in confusion trying to avoid damage to his panama hat...

Just a tip Backwoods, - make the place look more open during the day. I've stopped by a couple of times and it's so dark and empty that if it is open, no one would know.

I will tell him on next trip, but I am just a Very Satified customer. As for dark and empty, I have only been there during ther day, and it was never empty, but it is a small place. I waas talking up the place because I have had great food and super service, and just wanted to share my findings with others here!

Ahhh.. I have to give this place a second chance..

Unfortunately the first time I went, the burger I ordered wasn't just juicy, it was sopping wet UGH.... so much that the bottom bun was completely drenched and I was left with one option to fork and knifed my way through it. Wasn't satisfying at the time.. this was when it was nearly 2 weeks open..

So that being said.. I will try it again now that its been what almost 6 months now, no?

Also, I tried to sub the fries for a small salad (would have payed extra).. they declined and told me I had to order a whole salad.. so I did.. Caesar salad was FN' HUGE.. couldn't finish it.. and left the fries untouched.

I might go for a late lunch, rather than evening and see how it turns out.

Fingers Crossed.

I agree with most people here, they serve a fine burger, however IMO the same can't be said for their chili - the strangest looking / tasting chili I've ever encountered. No idea if it's on the menu because I had it at a recent Independence Day event. Not bad tasting just slightly unorthodox.

I might be wrong but I believe they also serve food to customers of nearby Q Bar if you fancy some burger dancing (messy, but a great way to make sure your fries are well seasoned....).

I do have to admit to having to use a bunch of napkins, but I guess I just eat fat enogh before the juice can hurt bun! I would love to know what the seasoning is that he uses, as its same tastse to the tender beef slice used in his soft taco. I have a dr appointment on the 1st, so I can promise I will be in there in the afternoon after anothr premium burger!

Went to Firehouse last night with a group of 6 and this is my experience:

Pros: Best tasting burger patty in BKK and I've been to pretty much all of the top rated places.

Nice, soft, bun. Not to much bread like most other places and unlike other reviewers mine never got soggy.

Great steak fries

Chili was also excellent

Pickles at table are awesome

Great location given the fare offered

Food prices are very reasonable

Cons: Slow kitchen. It took 30 minutes to get our food once we ordered.

Small place and limited seating especially for parties over 4 people. The place only sits maybe 30 people and 10 of that is outdoor

seating.

Very slow bartender and worst off all cocktails are very weak even by typical bar/pub standards.

Waitstaff was sufficient but I had similar problem with not getting what I ordered (ordered bacon on burger and it came without).

When I asked the waitress she didn't even record it when she took the order.

Place needs some decent music especially given where it's located.

Firehouse has a great theme and excellent food. Right now, they have the best tasting burger offered up at a restaurant, with Iron Fairies second. The premium burger is 1/2 the price of fairies which is an added bonus. I had the premium and my gf had the chili burger. The chili is really good, nice smokiness and a bit of spice reminds me of texas style chili. I think it overwhelmed the burger so I would recommend just getting a bowl of chili and a separate burger. The bun's excellence matched the burger patty. It's really soft, and the bread to meat ratio is almost perfect. The steak fries are also excellent, made from creamy potatoes and cooked/seasoned to perfection. Lastly, the bottomless jar of dill pickles and shelled peanuts really finish off the american pub style theme which is such a welcome extra that this place offerers.

While I don't have any real complaints about the food and theme, much of everything else about the place is either average or below. When we arrived at the place it was pretty much full but when you only seat about 30 people I'm sure this is a common problem. There were three of us at first and only a two seater was available that had just been vacated before we arrived. Empty beer bottles were left and the table hadn't been cleaned yet. I motioned to one of the girls to clean the table and they pretty much ignored us while they served other customers. So we basically just plopped down and waited about 15 minutes before one of the girls stopped. We ordered drinks and it took another 10 minutes before we received our order. Once we got our drinks a bigger table opened up so we moved and again the waitstaff didn't clean the table and we had to ask for new silverware and plates. I also didn't receive what I ordered (bacon on my burger) and when I asked the waitress she didn't even have it on the order. Now, I have come to expect substandard service at restaurants in Bangkok especially by American standards but they didn't appear to be understaffed, the prep staff (bartender and cooks) just appear to be very slow and a waitstaff that has poor customer service skills or training.

The service was one issue but the biggest gripe i have is the drinks. Cocktails are watered down to the point that I questioned the existence of alcohol in a couple of my drinks. I also ordered jaeger shots and they are like 1/2 shots for around 180 baht per. Not sure if this is the result of happy hour but I didn't really note a difference in pours once HR ended.

In closing, I was going to recommend this place as an excellent option for lunch but if the cook time is the same then I'm not sure it's feasible for everyone especially if you have limited time. The place has great potential if they can raise their cs level and mix a better drink. It's in a perfect spot as a pre-game place, lunch stop, or late night snack. I'll go back again for the food.
