I am currently residing at a friends in BKK off of Onnut in the Suan Luang area. On July 11th my 60 day seasoning of funds will happen and I then need to get my bank and personal paperwork together and head to the immigration office to obtain my retirement portion of my visa. My question is where exactly do I go? My friend with whom I am staying with recommended the one stop center at Chamchuri square. After reading the retirement visa section in the AngloInfo website, they have a link on who can use the one stop center and the o-A Retirement Visa was not listed.

Does this mean I need to go all the way to Immigration center in Laksi? Any info is greatly appreciated.

Yes, you have to go to Cheang Wattana Road in Laksi.

The One Stop Service Center is only for employees of businesses that fall under the BOI regulations.

The only option is Bangkok Immigration at Chiang Watanna, Soi 7 for those living in Bangkok Province. You do have the required non immigrant visa entry?

Yes I'm currently on the 90 day "O" visa which I received back in the states. My friend mentioned that I should take the BTS to Victory monument and then grab the bus to Laksi. Is this the easiest way?

Just to be clear, if you have a Non-O visa and wish to extend your stay based on retirement you go to Chiang Wattana Immigration and apply for an extension of stay, not an O-A Visa. O-A Visa is only issued in your home country. If your funds are seasoned and you currently are on a Non-O visa, just apply for an extension of stay based on retirement.

As mentioned, you are NOT getting a Non Imm O-A visa. Also, since you are apparently following the guidance of the MFA website, you also do NOT need police and medical reports.

Not too helpful to have an official website provide incorrect information.

Actually Ive been using the advice given to me on this website for the most part. I have posted previous topics that such dignitaries as Yourself, Jayman and Jingthing have given me and it's been solid. I just used the MFA website in order to help me figure out where I needed to go in order to wrap up my final step of securing my retirement visa.

Once the extension is placed in your passport, remember to go to the counter for a Re-Entry permit.

What do I need a Re-Entry permit for? I figured once I get the retirement visa I'm good to go.

You will need a Re Entry Permit if you intend to exit the country at any time.

It will keep your permision to stay alive.

As said you are not applying for a Retirement Visa.

Actually your good to stay - to go and return will require a re-entry permit.

That's kind of what I meant to say. I just didn't understand why I would want a re-entry permit until I decided to leave the country for some reason

The reason is insurance as an amergency weekend early morning flight would not allow getting such a permit as immigration offices would be closed and airport desk is only open 06-2400.

You are absolutely right, jwdub, you won't need to apply for a re-entry permit unless and until you decide to travel outside Thailand. I am sure, though, that the suggestions to get one immediately were well-intended, probably made by members who take that course of action for reasons that suit them, often businessmen who may nave to jump on a plane at a moment's notice or people who are fearful that they might forget the re-entry permit before travelling and then would have to start the extension process again from scratch.

Good man. Others, however, have relied entirely on the MFA website -- and have wasted resources obtaining police and medical reports.

Take the sky train to Mor chit and a taxi from there you are a bit closer than Victory Monument.

That seems to be the most recommended route from a variety of sites I've been researching on. I also found directions in Thai that you could hand over to the taxi driver in case of communication problems.

Any taxi driver will understand Chiang Watanna and Soi 7 (jet) but they may not know where that Soi is or the building. Soi is next to CAT headquarters and you drive to end of Soi and turn right 150 meters to turn right again to enter the South Entry (drive goes up one floor to it).
