Former Pattaya Journalist wanted in extortion case caught-on-camera

PATTAYA:--A Former Pattaya Journalist and member of the Banglamung Civil Defence Force, known in Thai as “O-Po-Po-Lor” is one of two men currently being sought on charges of extorting an Englishman and his Thai girlfriend and of impersonating a Police Officer.

The incident which occurred on Friday at the Diana Dragon Apartments in South Pattaya was caught on CCTV cameras. One of the victims, Khun Pragai aged 40, told us that she had spent the day with Mr. Paul Denham from England. Both had drunk heavily and entered into an argument at a nearby bar. A lady intervened and attempted to calm both parties down and went with them back to their apartment to ensure the situation did not escalate.

Khun Pragai claims that the woman called for the two men, who claimed they were Police and began by speaking with Mr. Denham who was asked to hand-over 12,000 Baht in cash of which 10,000 Baht would be given to Khun Pragai to leave the area and 2,000 Baht would be kept by the men. Mr. Denham reportedly handed over the money and Khun Pragai was escorted off the premises. Later Mr. Denham spoke with Khun Pragai to see if she had received the 10,000 Baht which was not handed over by the two men.
