Alexandra David-neel Books

I am reading Magic and Mystery in Tibet, which is very interesting. Has anyone read any of her other books?

Incidentally, Lama Govinda's classic The Way of the White Clouds has just been reprinted and is available again as a hard cover edition from Amazon.

I think that I have the Magic and Mystery book. - it is from about 100 years ago and as such is a book of historical interest, even if it is a little jazzed up.

I ahve not read it yet though ---- have so many books on my shelf to read!

According to Lama Govinda, David-Neel got a few things wrong, but she seems to have been highly regarded by both Govinda and John Blofeld. Govinda's own Way of the White Clouds is pretty amazing. There is one chapter that reminds me of the old Edgar Rice Burroughs classic, A Princess of Mars.

Reading about the Thai Forest Tradition masters and Tibetan lamas of 70-80 years ago, there is one obvious common factor that seems to account for their achievements - both groups lived in close proximity to death.
