All of the above.

Taxes are high, customs will extort you and even then you probably won't ever see your car again.

Don't bother.

I think the general train of thought is no. Huge import duties - maybe double the value of the car, plus if customs like your car they will keep upping the price until you decide not to take it.

Only try if you know (have bought) someone high up at customs.

Importing something into Thailand ...As usual No Rules ...Just Corruption at the highest level. It Sucks

Nice Ute mate. Importing anything into Thailand sucks but there are plenty of rules complete with unpredictable interpretation.

If you want an idea of the starting point for negotiations, the custom dept has some info in English at http://www2.customs....Nme=PersonalPer . There are many more rules on Excise tax than described in the link.

A new Malloo ute with relatively high value, large displacement / powerful engine would be an expensive combination. The example in the link suggests total cost 328% of CIF cost. I.E tax = 228% of (car + freight value), not including extra payments. You would really need a good customs agent for this.

Earlier this year there were stories in the media about banning imports of some cars and parts. I wonder if that is being implemented?
