Coming from the states, I want to introduce many food concepts to thailand that would be perfect for street vending. Alas, it doesn't seem like foreigners are allowed to be food vendors. Short of marriage, is there a way to get around it?

Thanks for the replies. As for marriage, I can have the wife do the vending. This is just a "what-if" scenario that would complement the thailand food scene as well as help us make a little extra income. If I had millions of baht, I wouldn't be street vending, although there have been successful street vendor franchises.

there are always ways to get around things...just set yerself in a place where no one local is threatened...if yer near the local market then there is the local mafia that will know what you and yer family are about and they can make yer life a misery...select a place where the trade is good but outside of the market area and maybe you can get a start...

I've had a good long look at the local conditions in our little town and unless you have 'connections' and are willing to share the wealth then you can forget it...try to get in tight with the local chinese business crowd as they know all the angles and they can be friendly and amenable if yer willin' to do business...but there will always be a price to pay as they don't give anything away...even in small villages things can be complicated with any business where you need to have a premises and are selling goods...
