BANGKOK: -- Red-shirt leader Jatuporn Promphan filed a letter with the Constitution Court yesterday seeking clarification on what he sees as an unfair and vindictive move against him by the court, which is seeking to revoke bail granted to him by the Criminal Court.

Minutes before submitting the letter, Jatuporn said the Constitution Court had "dishonest intent" and had violated the authority of the Criminal Court.

"If they can do this to me today, they will do the same to others," Jatuporn told reporters and the dozen or so red-shirt supporters gathered outside the court premises.

The Constitution Court sought to revoke Jatuporn's bail on terrorism charges after he attacked the court in Parliament for attempting to block the third reading on the charter reform debate.

Jatuporn said it was perfectly legal and constitutional for a citizen to criticise the judiciary and insisted that he had not threatened the court or its judges.

"If I threatened the court in any manner, then it can file charges against me," he challenged, adding that he would march from Democracy Monument to jail and go on a hunger strike if his bail is revoked.

"Those who are afraid of you are people who are afraid of losing their freedom. You can take my freedom, but you cannot harm this country," he added.

Pimnicha Wattanapisit, 58, who came from Ayutthaya province to offer moral support to Jatuporn, said double standards were being employed here, because though the court wants to have Jatuporn thrown back into jail, those responsible for deaths in April and May 2010 are still walking freely.

Part of "those responsible" would be locked away, when the bail is revoked... Who pay peoples to be in the wrong place at the wrong time is "those responsible"...

He means they would revoke other criminals bail after they breach the conditions as well? Oh my god where this world is going to.

What a daft ox this man is.

He comes out and immediately acuses the court of being dishonest!!!

If they revoke his bail he'll be protesting in Bang Kwang - not at any monument!!!

Great slimming program....walk,and diet.

Certainly he could well do with the sort of free professional assistance that was extended to fellow Red Shirt Leader Out On Bail and current Deputy Agriculture Minister Natthawut.

The very positive and healthy benefits of the Bangkok Remand Prison Obesity Reduction Program that Red Shirt Leader Natthawut enjoyed and benefited from.

When future historians look back and write the book of 'the PTP years', they should use the photo from this article, on the book's front cover. This photo sums up the PTP so succinctly; a fat bully in a bad suit, reading from a script, held in his pudgy fingers along with the brown envelope from Dubai.

That image would make a good statue too. Future dimwits could make pilgrimages to the statue and lay offerings of donuts and bigmacs at its feet.

Don't forget to mention that, like Nattawut, Weng, Veera and most of the other red shirt leaders, this a Southerner, recruited to be a leader of the Northeastern and Northern poor, while he is reviled by the people of his own province.

What the ultra right wing Thaksinites are truly afraid of is that the Northeast and the North will start to produce their own homespun leaders who will challenge their ruthless capitalist philosophy of throwing a few crumbs to the poor while accumulating massive power and wealth for themselves and ensuring the poor remain uneducated and poor. Thaksin hates labour activists as much as the military and the so called "elite", if not more.

Hard to lock them up when they live inDubai and carry several other citizenship and wont come back to the country they so dearly love.

Only a few red shirt supporters. I suppose even they are begining to see the truth about the man.

What ever happened to suing the CC.

I bet before he begins his march to go on a hunger strike he will hit a couple of buffet's.

If it is, he should be imprisoned for that alone.

And the suggestion is that is a bad thing? Commit the crime ... accept the time!

He's probably already got a one way ticket to Dubai sorted, if things start to look dicey. Not exactlly the bravest of criminals is Doughboy.

Probably a smart move when you're facing incarceration until a very long (or possible fatal) sentence is passed.

Incineration would be much better for Jatta the Hut

On the 18th of May, 2012 before going to hear a verdict from the Constitutional Court Mr Jatuporn said that he would accept the court's ruling, whether it went in his favour or against him. THat day the Constitution Court disqualified him as a Pheu Thai Party list MP on the grounds that his membership of the party terminated when he was jailed, reports said.

ex-MP Jatuporn, colse mouthed for once

Don't forget to mention that, like Nattawut, Weng, Veera and most of the other red shirt leaders, this a Southerner, recruited to be a leader of the Northeastern and Northern poor, while he is reviled by the people of his own province.

Weng is from Bangkok (not that it really matters). I doubt that most of the leaders, other than the three you mention, are from the south. Most of them are locals, often vote canvassers and the like for PT but not always. There's a lot more autonomy and bottom-up influence than people assume I think, Nostitz has often discussed this. Why has Thaksin appeared to switch strategy? Because he could see that grassroots red shirts weren't happy that he appeared to be trying to reconcile with the 'amaat' (Yingluck met Prem twice, for instance). But like you, I hope this new found influence could be used for more progressive purposes than this whole changing the constitution and bringing back Thaksin business.

Why are they 'ultra right wing'? And where's the evidence that Thaksin hates labour leaders? I don't think he hates anyone per se, just people that aren't willing to work with him. In fact, he cosied up to NGOs and Labour leaders in the early TRT days. But anyway, there are 'homespun' leaders, they're just not leading the genuine democratic progressive movement we'd like to see... yet. I also hope the many progressive students and also people from the older 70s generation could influence the red shirt masses in this direction.
