What Does Thai People Like And Dislike About Farangs.

We Farangs must never forget that we are guests in the LOS.However,i fully believe that if we play our part as a guest, any misunderstandings can sometimes be avoided.Equally so , should a Thai visit our home country we will expect them to behave like a quest. Therefore, lets try and find out how we can improve our day to day interaction.Could one dislike be, that we Farangs dont make an effort to learn their language.Lets be honest if a visiting Thai comes up to you in London or New York and he speaks English, one tends to be more willing to help. Can members highlight what the likes and dislikes are.

So if white foreigners (that's what you mean right, you said f-rang) are magically better "liked" what results do you expect?

No more overpricing based on superficial racial appearance?

Opening up land/home ownership?

Less restrictions in employment/business ownership, etc?

Easier paths towards permanent residence/citizenship?

A path to permanent residence for retired foreigners?

Thai people learning the different NATIONS the "f-rangs" come and stop using that insulting word?

Welcoming committees at airport arrivals, brass bands, Thai officials and soldiers waving our national flags, kissing us, putting flowers on our heads?

According to the 5 year old daughter of friends of ours, I speak English and my wife speaks คน.

In other words, the little girl sees me as an "English speaker" and my wife as a "People speaker"

Seems right to me. smile.png

PS: I'm an "applicant" according to the stamp in my passport - not "Guest" or "Farang."

I would like a moving barstool as soon as i get off the plane. i will drink my first beer while beeing wheeled to immigration. upon stamping my passport, the immigration official will hand me my passport and issue me my 2nd beer. The barstool will then take me on a magical mystery tour of thailand making me very informed on Thailand culture, language and my social standing whilst in this country.

this is all thats required of me during my stay.

Heres an idea for you, stand in the entrance to MBK or Emporium or Seacom, or any other popular mall of your choice, with a clipboard and ask a representative sample of Thai's,( say 3000,) your OP question, then come back and tell us the answers. Then we will truly know the answer to this most perplexing of questions.

I for one will be most interested to know the answer.

I blame Americans and their cheese burgers.

That would be the simple minded way to go.

Yes, okay. I'll have the 'meal'. No I won't go large . . . but thanks for offering.

I also blame the Italians and their pizza.

Pad thai is probably more calories/higher fat/higher sugar than a cheeseburger.

Gives me terrible gas . . .

Farangs are bigger.

Obesity is a global problem now. Lots of big men in Thailand too.

I blame Americans and their cheese burgers.

Are you sure he was referring to obesity?

Oh yes, definitely.

See, the bigger the man the more money he must have to get that fat.

Some very, very rich farangs around. Billionaires!
