Different people will perceive you differently. Based on their own filters. So technically, you are not just "one person" to everybody. And you have a perception of yourself, but other people's perception of you may vary wildly. My sister does not respect me at all. She married a very rich guy and ran a huge business and they move in circles of ultra-rich high powered corporate crowd. So she thinks I'm a loser because I only had mediocre jobs, which I did. But then again, should people be judging everyone on whether they became high-powered corporate executives or not? Does that mean most Thais, who have fairly basic jobs, are worthless? Maybe moral conduct, being ethical, a decent human being, being reasonably well-educated all matter. But if the other person doesn't value any of that, then they won't. care that you developed your character and all that. I like John Prine. He remembers "every blade of grass. " and "sometimes a little tenderness was the best that he could do."
