Some people find great solace in color coding. Their entire universe is colored red or yellow. It is indicative of intellectual laziness or even worse, a wilful denial of pluralistic reality. Anyway, it's much easier than independent analytical thinking, and plays nicely to color-coded mobthink. Either way, it is dishonest.

It is also an insult to anybody when they are defined primarily by a piece of clothing. Saying that somebody is a 'red shirt' or a 'yellow shirt', as opposed to saying that somebody is an individual with a unique personality and life skills, is to condense hundreds of thousands of years of human evolution and human achievement and refer to it as a scrap of cotton with some dye on it.

Defining people as "shirts" (of any colour) is a seriously dehumanising act. It says those people are all interchangeable, replaceable, disposable. Because they are just shirts and not a group of individuals. Even worse is when Thaksin gives you a shirt to wear, a shirt that not only defines you as a 'red shirt' (a 'thing' and not a 'person') but it also has a big Thaksin face on the front of the shirt, which says you are a 'thing' belonging to Thaksin, with his stamp of ownership on your chest.

That is why, even if I supported a political party I would insist on wearing my own normal working clothes and being referred to by my full name.

Nature throws out abundance, and the reason it does that is to avoid entropic uniformity. It is a crucial part of evolution to never surrender ones uniqueness to any system of deindividualisation.

Its time to outlaw coloured shirts.

BANGKOK: -- The ruling Pheu Thai Party, which claims the Constitution Court's verdict on changing the charter was "unclear", remained firm yesterday with its plan to amend the Constitution by setting up a drafting assembly.

Spokesman Prompong Nopparit said a resolution was reached at a meeting yesterday afternoon of the party's Strategic Committee, made up of leading Pheu Thai figures. It was chaired by senior MP Snoh Thienthong and lasted over three hours.

The same Pheu Thai MP Snoh announced this afternoon that Thaksin has given his blessings to a different course of action and that was by making changes to the 2007 by individual amendments section by section, rather than pursue change through an entire rewrite of the constitution with a Constitutional Drafting Assembly.

Snoh said that he and his wife, Thaksin Cabinet's Culture Minister Uraiwan, met with Thaksin in Hong Kong last week and discussed the recent court verdict and future strategies and to wish him a happy birthday on the 26th.

Surely this cannot be correct. I mean just the other day some Pheu Thai spokesfigure said MP's only went to HK to congratulate k. Thaksin with his birthday? Even our PM Yingluck has declared not to depend on him!

Has it actually occured to you that what they said actually happened, some MP's did go to wish Thaksin happy birthday but Snoh in addition to wishing Thaksin happy birthday also discussed the recent court verdict and future strategies just like he said?

But where would be the fun in that - where would be the supposed controversy, the shock , the outrage? What would you post about?

Nothing to see here folks, please move over to the "Yingluck says she will go shopping in Paris / Shock Horror" thread

for your "I'm Astounded" postal needs.............

Sanoh has a habit of making these in-your-face revelations of Thaksin's direct involvement in Party functioning.

He's a territorial boss and goes back with Thaksin to the Thai Rak Thai Party.... that was until he abandoned the sinking Titanic and thus avoided a banishment himself... just in the nick of time.

Hasn't is occurred to you that with our PM Yingluck just having denied to depend on her brother (only needs him), her MPs just hop over to discuss matters of state with the fugitive. Probably just to annoy her. I mean it's "Thaksin thinks, Pheu Thai act" after all, isn't it?

Now you hop over to the shopping fun if you've got nothing else to say but complain, complain, or maybe continue on the 'constitutional court acting outside it's powers' thread. Maybe MP Sanoh wanted some pointers on how to avoid courts :-)

So much for the convicted criminal and fugitive from justice home by his birthday ready to take over the cabinet with the boys from the club. Now this cabinet better hurry up and full fill Thaksins birthday wish of a full amnesty and the return of his corrupted monies before the 1st of August or they will find themselves replaced by the club. The ex wife's boys should be ok for another round at the trough.

Nothing to see here folks

except another big

Aranho_U-turn_icon.png

from the OP of just one week ago.

Chalerm has come out today in support of Thaksin's directive to pursue constitutional change article by article rather than through a re-write of the entire constitution.

The article in the other paper lists the first five sections they seek to change.
