I'm looking at buying an old cheap high mileage Volvo 740 that is only running on LPG because the injector pump is broken. There are likely other problems that make the benzene system not worth fixing. Is there any problem with always starting and using LPG.

Thanks!

Shouldn't be a problem with running...

Just make sure you don't run out of gas or you will need towing to the nearset LPG place... :D

I ran a car on LPG only for 4 years with no problems. That was a Nissan 2.0 engine. I could not be bothered to have the fuel pump fixed.

Used to.have an even older 245.

Same engine then the 740 (B230).

Ran perfectly fine on lpg, actually that particular engine is suited very well for lpg, with a very strong heat resistant top end (valves etc).

Did about 100,000km on lpg (from 240,000 to 340,000 km) without issues. Same thing, no petrol due to faulty injectors...

Got just under 8 km/l lpg (13 l/100km), so cost per km 1.5 Baht!

Same on petrol would be over 4 Baht using gasohol, which is exactly what messses up the old Bosch injection system in the first place!
