KABUL, AFGHANISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- Twenty-two NATO supply tankers were torched in northern Afghanistan on Wednesday, local authorities said on Thursday.

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning at around 3 a.m. local time in the Rabatak area of Afghanistan's Samangan Province. Provincial security chief General Khalilullah Andarabi told Khaama Press that a total of eighteen oil tankers and four other NATO supply trucks were attacked and torched.

During the attack, Andarabi said, two drivers were injured. One of the drivers said the incident was triggered by an explosion, but few details were immediately available as investigations were launched.

No group or organization claimed responsibility for the attack.

It's easy to destroy. It takes a bigger person to create.

One question: why is the US still giving Pakistanis and Afghans tons of money each year? If they want to destroy their sand-duned, treeless, waterless, myth-worshiping countries, let 'em do it without western taxpayers' billions shoveled on to their laps.

"To destroy is always the first step in any creation." e. e. cummings

Pakistan and Afghanistan are US allies. "Our best friends" as Clinton would say.

US aid money goes to contract firms from the US or is given in the form of good US American quality products such as military equipment. There goes your tax dollar, it creates jobs for your fellow countrymen, strengthen your country's economy, makes shareholder happy.

Money well spent. It makes you to a global power. It buys you allies in the region who would otherwise become best friends of the Russians or the Chinese and that is probably the last thing you want.

Whoever torched the NATO trucks, it could be seen as a message that they don't want the help of the NATO to destroy their sand-duned treeless, waterless, god blessed country.

I think the US congress will vote to curtail the money the US sends to Pakistan. It's been awhile, but last time I checked, the top receivers of US hand-outs were Egypt, Israel Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq are near or at the top of the list. Anyone see a pattern here? ALL are middle eastern countries. It's like the US spends money to keep those countries (with the exception of Israel) from dissolving further in to chaos and self-affliction.

In comparison, what does Russia or China pay to failed countries? Russia pays to Syria, but I doubt China pays anyone - unless they're getting raw materials, and in that case it has no scruples about the state of affairs there, humanitarian or otherwise.
