Hi there

I have an antipodean passport and obtained a triple entry before flying to this amazing country in december last yr. Its about to expire and Ive decided to fly to Indonesia for a few months as its the dry season there.

I love this country and want to stay here in the long term. I might have to fly back home to sort some stuff out in Oct / Nov from Indonesia or PNG and was then planning on flying back here in November.

Other facts:

- Im aged in my early 40's and retired. I realise I cannot apply for retirement visa

- I don't want to work at a govt' school in bkk and go down the work visa route (I have an aversion to early morning get ups)

- Im too young to get married and don't want to consider this option yet.

- Im keen to improve my Thai speaking abilities and thus the ED visa seems to be suitable?

Questions...

Que 1. Will the thai consulate in my country offer me another triple entry visa after being out of thailand for at least 2 months maybe 3

Que 2. Alternatively, should I fly in on a 30 day visa and then apply for an ED visa. I am keen to learn Thai

Que 3. If I get a new triple or double entry from the consulate should I take this and then revert to an ED visa next year?

Que 4. How many triple / double entry visa's can one usually apply for before they say no more...

Que 5. Any other options...?

I think Que 4 is the most important one to me to know...

Thanks in advance. Peace and smiles

q1. depends on the consulate you apply. Here in the neighbourhood it is not very likely to get a 3 entry.

You do not revert to an ed-visa. rahter you get all the paperwork from a school and apply with that at a consulate in a neighbouring country. So you can do it at the end of any entry.

q4. How many you can get depends on the consulate you apply. Here in the neighbourhood don't count on more than 4 in a row/

thanks for your advice. If I can rely on 4 more double entry visas then that is quite good and assume I should put off the ED visa idea until I have utilised this option?

If you're stopping in Bali for a few days, have a look at this topic:

Dont forget each entry can be extended by 30 days within Thailand so a double entry as an example would get you 60 + 30 x 2 = 6 months.
