Burma’s new Environmental Conservation Law is in its final draft process and should be ready before the end of the year, according to Mizzima. Officials from relevant ministries and environmental groups are now discussing changes to the legislation which has been criticized by some groups as too weak, Aung Myint, the chairman of the Renewable Energy Association of Myanmar, was quoted by the media group. “Formulating an environmental conservation law is very complex. Soon foreign investment will increase and domestic businesses will grow. So we need [very effective] rules,†he said.
