[Myanmar] Eu Urges Burma To Let Aid Reach Displaced

The European Union has expressed concern regarding violence in western Burma’s Arakan State and called on the government to let humanitarian organizations reach the victims. The European Commission issued a statement on Thursday related to the sectarian violence which has gripped the region since early June. “The Commission is following closely the situation in western Myanmar and the Cox Bazaar district in Bangladesh where we have reports of people affected by the violence seeking safe haven and emergency medical care. We are concerned of the significant humanitarian repercussions of the events in Rakhine [Arakan] State. The Commission appeals to both Myanmar and Bangladesh to allow humanitarian organizations access to the victims,†the statement said.
