Scores of Insaf Students Federation activists staging a demonstration in Pakistan on Sunday to condemn the perceived slaughter of Rohingya Muslims in Burma and demanded the United Nations immediately intervene and hold an impartial inquiry into the matter. The protest was held outside the Lahore Press Club and saw demonstrators carrying banners and placards while chanting slogans that criticized the Burmese government and also the Pakistani authorities for their silence over the issue. The protesters expressed solidarity with Burmese Muslims, invited NGOs, human rights organizations and civil society members to join the cause and support an end to the alleged atrocities in western Burma’s Arakan (Rakhine) State, reports Pakistan-based The News.
