I managed to get a copy of the checklist that the clerks at the Consular Section use when checking non-immigrant B visa applications. This is literally what is on their desk when they go through your documents. A lot of this information is already out there/here on the Internet, but it anyone is in doubt, this is what they look for, as of July 30, 2012.

Disclaimer: this is specifically marked as produced by the Thai embassy in Vientiane, and may or may not apply to other embassies/consulates.

Document required for application of non-immigrant B visa

1. Copy of passport and 2 photos

2. Copy of academic degrees or CV (if work as teacher/instructor/tutor)

3. Invitation or recommendation and letter from employer addressed to Royal Thai Embassy request for non-immigrant B visa (also indicate reason of employment, duration, position, salary, etc)

4. Approval letter from Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare, Thailand (Employers in Thailand may request quota, approval and work permit for alien employees who will work in Thailand. Letter of approval will be sent to foreign employee in order to apply for non-immigrant visa to enter the Kingdom and later apply for work permit)

5. Employment Contract (form issued by Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare)

6. Copy of commercial registration certificate / certificate of company registration

7. Other relevant document

 - Copy of list of company shareholders

 - Copy of memorandum of company's regulation

 - Copy of company's later income tax statement (ภงด. 50 and 30)

 - Copy of company's latest balance sheet

 - List of expatriates and foreign workers employed by the company

 - Bills of landing / bank statement indicating exporting transaction (if registered as exporting company)

8. Copy of previous/current work permit of the applicant (if any)

***Remark: After entering Thailand, the applicant is advised to apply work permit.

Thank you for posting this, MaxwellsDemon. This might be a check-list given by the MFA to Thai consulates worldwide, but we can't be sure until here from other who may be seeing it at other consulates. At the consular section of what Thai embassy did you get your copy?

I collect this type of important information leaflets in an album for reference and would be grateful if you could scan it and attach it to a new post here.

List is certainly not the MFA web text verbatim; here is the new MFA link http://www.mfa.go.th...siness-and.html

Interesting to note that Vientiane require the Letter of Approval from your Local Department of Labour; this document can only be obtained once a WP3 Work Permit application has been successfully filed and a WP3 Receipt issued.

The Letter of Approval (LOA) is not a WP3 Receipt, but many Consulates will accept the WP3 receipt in lieu of the LOA.

LOAs can often take several working days to obtain as they normally require the signature of the Labour Dept Head.

Nice post and thread. I will be in need of this list in about 5 months, as Vientiane will most likely be where I'll be applying for my upcoming Non-B.
