I'm in Ubonratchathani, north-east Thai. I used to buy tinned new potatoes, grown in Thailand. The outlet closed, but then I was getting similar quality, but imported from UK, until that source dried up. If I could get them, I would order a bulk delivery (who'd want to drive all the way to Ubon with 2 tins?).

Oxo & Marmite getting low, too. Any ideas?

Whistleblower (& Meatboy), thanks. Seems Bunters doesn't carry new spuds. I was buying imported from local eatery, so maybe I'll ask them who the BKK supplier was. Many years back I used to get large tins of Thai-grown new potatoes from Robinsons/Tops, but they closed their store long ago. I tried to trace the producer on the internet, w/out luck.

I've also been told Thailand catches & tins anchovies, but local Tesco only offers very small imported tins at very large prices, or with tomato sauce (yerk!). The search continues.

Tesco make their own. So maybe a call to head office??

whistleblower,

thanks a lot for that info. I shall take a printout of the tinned spuds to local (Ubon) Tesco. The 'consumer revolution' never reached Isaan. Usual response is, "If you can't see it, we aint got it" - that's if you can get thru the language barrier. Thanks again.

Latest news is that we can supply Batchelor's Tinned new spuds at 90 baht/tin for 300g - subject to our usual delivery restrictions (size of order, charges, etc.)

Not on the website yet, but I'm updating that soon . . .
