Seriously ... you can't say that the 4 person Canoe is enjoyed by the populus.

Thus deserving inclusion as an Olympic event.

What raises your ire as ... 'You're joking ... they call that an Olympic Sport'?

I love my sport, I watch, I still play squash.

In the wild rivers on Norway or New Zealand, after the snow melts you can imagine the fun of the challenge of a raging river.

The Ping Pong and B-B gun shooting contests look silliest. It's as if they held an Olympics based on the after school antics of Dennis the Menace. Wonder why they don't have a slingshot event?

Who has ever played "handball".Lol.

Me for one. Handball and Racquetball are quite popular and very good exercise.

As far as rowing being an Olympic sport, it's been in the games since 1986. So where has the OP been?

Rowing, fair enough, but Connect-4 Canoeing? That's just madness!

On the flat water, I can see you might get away with it, but once the white water started...

And if you're going to stick to the flat water, then what's wrong with skulling and eights?

Why isn't 'skimming' an Olympic sport?

Or some sports for Johnny Foreigner - Sepak Takraw gets plenty of coverage in the Asian games, but what about kabadi?

synchronised swimming, whats that all about, only slightly better to watch than 2 grown men fondling each other in the wrestling.

Best comment I ever heard on that was, If ones starts to drown, do they all have to drown in the last performed action ?laugh.png

I like the combination sports, with the growing popularity of 'X games', I am looking forward to synchronised rock-climbing / BMX Diving

Any one have any insight into why fully proffesional sports players like tennis'ists are allowed to partake, or did I miss the bit a long time back when it stopped being principaled and for amateurs.

Horse dancing (dressage) goes straight over my head.

Archery.

How do these guys even miss the target these days? Those super duper bows and sights.

Its a bit like giant darts, but without the beer and calls of 'ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTYYYYYYYYYY'

Some former Olympic events:

Poodle clipping

Live pidgeon shooting

Tug-of-War

Fire fighting

Motorboat racing

Delivery van driving

http://www.11points...._Olympic_Sports

Wow. I had no idea they experimented with those sports.

I always wanted to go and see the Sherpa Van Cup Final - I thought they must've used a ball about eight feet across, and it must make a terrible mess of the pitch, but it turned out it was just a sponsorship deal with Leyland - Daf

Naff and don't see the point - dressage and the floor exercises in the gymnastics ... why don't they stick some obstacles to jump over or something to knock over to make it more fun?

Kiddy sports - ping pong, playground scrapping (wrestling) and jumping in the pool at the same time to make a big splash (synchronized diving)

Some more ideas to make the Olympics more fun:

1. Sharks in the swimming pool.

2. People with apples above their heads for the archery.

3. Live chicks (baby chickens) instead of shuttlecocks.

4. Quick sand for beach volleyball.

5. Midgets lifting fat people in the weightlifting.

6. A backwards cycling road race.

7. Blindfolded synchronized javelin/discus/hammer throwing.

8. Horses undressing their riders.

How about cyclists chasing a bloke on a moped, just why ?

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Thaivisa Connect App

That's better than whippets, that is.

What about the Fukushima 50 mSV dash?

Run in through an obstacle course, perform as much of a complex task requiring complete serene calm, and out again, within a time limit.

Much like the shooting events. I was scanning the tube and ran across the shooting event. They competitors looked like aliens they had on so much equipment.

Yes I like it, trouble may be that there are more losers than winners, could be a long wait at the medal ceremony " in third place with a lifetimes dose is.........Oh he couldnt make it then ". Could call it Hot Rod racing eh !
