Phuketshrew
Thinking ahead a little as I still have a few months left on my one year multi-entry visa. Last year I renewed in Savannaket, Lao PDR. Thai consulate was great. I was the only person there, paperwork was checked quickly, no proof of funds was asked for, and I picked up the one year visa the following morning. I am planning to do the same run this year - probably mid December. However, last year I booked into a cheap hotel and it was awful so I am looking for something better next time. Last year I also caught the VIP night bus from Savannaket to Vientiane - now that was quite an experience! Has anyone done the Savan Vegas visa run yet? If so, please share your experience. Thanks

Boyce
Has anyone gotten a double-entry tourist visa from Savannakhet recently? Yes i did last week , i got a triple entry tourist visa 3000Baht, the double is 2000Baht, the hotel service and rooms , and the food , was great don't book a cheap hotel , because you have to do all the running around , ar the savanvegas the staff take care of everyting you don't have to leave the hotel just get yourself to Mukdaham Bus Station and you will see the savanvegas office, just go in and the hotel vip bus will pick you up and take you into Lao. send then an inquiry on the link in post 5 with your details and phone number and you will get a call from them within an hour. Read my post in this thread. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/577016-total-visa-run-noob/ Good Luck pm me if you need anymore details Boyce Edited August 16, 2012 by Boyce

By what time do we need to get to Mukdahan bus station in order to make it to the Thai consulate in the same day?
ubonjoe
You have to be at the consulate before 11 am. So you need to be in Mukdahan no later than 8 am or so.
Sydneycraig
I did it last month... Would recommend to all. Pick up at ubon in private van 1500 round trip... Hotel sorts all visa stuff and border crossing... Hotel nice for price and staff are very good especially the ones assigned to the visa run program...costs more as you will probably dump a load on the tables !! Not a great deal in town but worth a wander around at least.

OK, so if I'm able to enter Laos and apply for my visa the same morning, what would I do for ID when checking into a hotel in Savannakhet later in the day? A copy of your passport n the receipt from the Thai consulate is enough. The hotels are used to have visitors which come to Savannakhet to apply for the Thai Visa. ignis
Are they still alive? I contact them but no answer. I called them, but the number is incorrect. Odd i emailed them last week got a reply next day, was a little unclear on one point so phoned, the lady said someone would phone me back, I left my number, within 10 mins got the call.... Still not 100% sure........ but from what was said, a 1 year '0' + not married to a Thai = Bank Book showing at least 100k. No bank book will get a 90 day '0'........ married to a Thai sometimes bank book asked for, so have over 30k in it.. Single, Double or Tripple TR Visa no funds ask for.. Edit: as a PS yes I have used them, and would do so again, very easy and straight forward, everything done for you by the Casino from the moment they pick you up at Mukdaham Bus Station to the time they drop you off ....... I had been to Savannaket a couple of years ago, it is easy to do everything yourself there. Edited December 29, 2012 by ignis

pinkpanther99
Hi, I stayed at Savan Vegas about 3 months and was told they no longer offer the visa run service. The rooms seemed pretty much the same - not updated - but the breakfast had improved slightly although it was still fairly average.

Mario2008
They do no longer offer visa services. But you can now get a non-O visa the same day you apply for it at Savanakhet.
ubonjoe
They stopped doing the visa service a long time ago. You can do it yourself. Savannakhet is doing visas now on the same day you apply.

jauntyjohn
if i do decide to stay overnight at Savannaket and make a little trip of it with the wife…is there anything to see or do around the area? Been to savannakhet a couple of times, most recently last week. I would suggest staying in Mudkahan....Savannakhet is ok for a few hours during the day but everything is done by 10 or 11pm at night....not a whole lot to do.
