Hello,

I only have a photocopy of my University Degree and when I went to get my non-B at Cheangwatana, they said I must get my copy certified at The British Embassy. Anyone any experience of costs, etc of getting photocopies certified!?

Thanks

Not sure I understand this... Photocopies are normally certified on the basis of the original. If you bring both to Cheangwatana than you don't need to go to the embassy. I don't think the embassy would certify a copy without original. For that you need to go to the university.

I thought they had their top boffs in some lab who could spot a fake from a mile away.

I was asked to have mine sent from my university with the university wax stamp on. I simply said 'no'. This was a few years back, mind.

I just showed my original and that was about it. They had no real way of verifying it. Maybe they are much stricter now.

why are you taking a degree to Cheangwatana? if you are applying for a work permit that is done at the labour office,

Why not just get the original document sent over here then it would save you the hassle but as for photocopies as a rule they will not be accepted anywhere.

Immigration also asks for degree certificates, or equivalent, if you are applying for a Non-Immigration visa "B".

How would you get a Non B visa in Thailand ? You can change the type of visa you have,,you can apply for an extension!

I would assume that the OP has applied for a work permit and has a wp3 which he can get an extension with.

Having a wp3 is not going to provide an extension of stay - there are specific requirements for both company and applicant to allow extensions.

You can also obtain a non immigrant visa (in process of extension of stay) from a visa exempt entry.

There is no requirement to have a degree when applying for an extension of stay at immigration. Have a look at clause 2.1 of police orders 777/2551 and 305/2551.

It is also not required for a work permit application unless the job description and/or employment contract requires it.

if the OP is working for a good school you can for sure be issued an extension with a WP3 or you can take said document to a consulate and apply for a NON B with this document.

The OP said nothing about working for a school - in fact he said "During this time I started work and my company began the application to change my visa to a Non-B and to gain a work permit." in another thread and the reason I said "company" in my post. There are income requirements and tax record requirements for extensions of stay for most company employment. Much more than just having a WP3.

I have not read his other thread and did I say he was working for a school? I said (IF). In this post he just talking about getting a degree certified for the purpose of getting a visa at Cheangwatana.
