Just last week there was a thread about that. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find it.

I did a search and it comes up with nothing!!

Strange, I searched this forum for 'tar' and htis thread came up:

I had the same problem ... found diesel fuel to be the best ... had already tried petrol and paraffin without a great deal of success. Then wash the area with water containing washing up liquid and re-polish.

a small amount of petrol on a rag will fetch it off too

Along with the wax and part of the clear coat.. I recommended WD40 years ago here and obviously I'm with T/A, it's all we ever used to remove rubber marks and all range of other petroleum based marks on the race cars including the adhesive from graphics easily & all without abusing your cars paint or your health as some things like kerosene and diesel fuel do, both of which are considered to be strong carcinogens....

Addendum: For dried on or larger spots it's best to spray it on and let it sit for a period of time before wiping and you may need to apply more then once..
