From what I have seen the evidence against her was very convincing.

So IMO: yes, she is a dumbo who is seeking publicity for the money.

Yes, that seems to be the case. Publicity for money.

well, if she's not pregnant, maybe she was legitimately raped, that's how it works according to the US republicans

What I can say watching the video link to Yahoo is this:

1) at 3:13 she claims to have been
sexually assaulted,
which is far different from being raped.

2) at 4:09 the journalist claims that police used the cctv footage against her but none of the clips have shown her taking a ride by a taxi motorcycle as police claimed to appear in the footage (....and, on the opposite, none of them is showing her taking a tuk tuk ride).

3) at 5:14, the girl claims embassy staff suggested her to sign a paper where she lied in her "best interest". Same to what I would have suggested her (given Police account of the story) but with the additional of recommending her a lawyer in case she would opt to fight the case in Court.

4) at 5:50, the journalist claims the Aussie Embassy has hidden behind emails and checks when asked to be interviewed which is not a good sign.....

At the beginning, like many in this forum, I believed she made it up for sure but now I am not 100% sure. What is sure is that this particular case is stirring a hot debate and will affect future rape cases.

You got your timeline and events wrong.

No mention she was out on bail for a few weeks prior to the actual court case. No question from the interviewer as what she was doing while out on bail, why she stayed in Thailand, was her passport on a stop notice with Thai Immigration etc. The Australian government policy is not to comment on a citizens specific case and the journalist would know this from the brief given by the legal department of the broadcaster prior to going to air; so just sensationalism.

Actually, rape is what could be considered one of many forms of sexual assault.

True, although probably there is a difference (ok, maybe not too far). Same as between murder and attempted murder.

You are missing the point. Rape is the description of the act itself, sexual assault is the actual crime committed.
