My problem has been the same for well over 1 year, just cannot find any help.... Have True 7MB connection, the internet is fast, click anything and the page opens instantly,,,,,,,,,,,

The problem is starting the internet....... click any Browser and it appears but takes 4 mins to load !! ? I cannot do anything on the PC until the pages has loaded.......... once loaded fine it flies........

i have many time ran Optimize, and Turbo boost internet, the PC is clean.............. Click on Internet and it did always say 'waiting for Active X for chrome' I have disabled that in the extensions, now it says 'waiting for http://www.searchnu.com/406' No idea what that is or where it came from, a few second before the 4 mins my Gmail home page shows,,,,,, on I.E also says 'waiting for http://www.searchnu.com/406' then when opens says search cannot be found...

Any help please ?

Is no real problem as it has been the same for so long, I click to open and go and get my breakfast and coffee, Browser is open when I get back from the kitchen.

A Google of searchnu.com comes up with a whole gaggle of 'how to remove' articles, probably time for a clean out and a new A/V and anti-malware software.

Agree with this but in the meantime a quick fix you could try in IE is Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset.

Odd, I have Avast the paid version, SuperAntiSpyware 5.5.1012, Spy & Bot and MalwareByyes..

So say on all my PC is clean and malware and bugware free

I'm surprised your A/V, A/malware software didn't flag it when it installed.

Reading some of the splurge it seems it's not malware per-sé, more 'annoyware' you (or another user) probably allowed it sometime in the distant past and now you are suitably annoyed you want rid.

So following the info on the web, have UN-installed 'searchchqu'

also blocked under wrench setting that and ending in NU

Opened I.E, now shows Ask.com, but took 5 min and 3 secs to open I.E Browser......... 1st time opened I.E for a few days....... after opened clicked on http://www.koicymru.co.uk/construct.htm, instantly opened.......... so still the start up for the 1st time problem...

Not familiar with these, but isn't one enough these days? More than one tends to slow things doesn't it?

Avast the paid version is always on and Auto up dates 2x a day, the other are off, and use them every so often, each one when I run them [last weekend] find something the other one did not........... Use many websites work related every day, so try to keep up with any that have infections..... Oddly if MalwareByyes is on, stops 50% or more sites loading.......... one most people know in the Immigration website, it blocks that and says it is malware

You need to give your PC a thorough scan with "SpyBot Search & Destroy" and "Adaware Free". A deep scan with these (one at a time!) should remove every piece of junk, and you can uninstall them afterwards (it's not good practice to run two antivirus packages simultaneously as they can get their knickers in a twist fighting over each other).

Please report back the results.

I have AV installed and I still do this once every couple of months, and they always find something, even if it's only tracking cookies. There is so much web-borne shit out there it's unbelievable.

download "Dr web Cureit" (free program),put on a usb strip,or save on deck top,

after download, restart computer in safe mode,"run Cureit" it makes the screen go dark, not to worry its ok

takes awhile to scan your computer, when finished restart computer

that should fix your problem

Many Thanks did that....... But only ran the Express Scan, even so that took 1 hr 40 mins........... results found only 1x silly me forgot, was in C drive under user the folder 'searchchqu' ......... Nice to know my PC is totally ? clean

Maybe should do a full scan ? but reading about scanning All files on All hard drives that may take a few days to run......... at moment it is raining, well has been for passed 48 hours, = many times the electric goes out... so guess the Full Scan will have to wait for the dry season..

Rebooted and opened Chrome, took seconds

Also thanks for reminding me I have not checked http://majorgeeks.com for so long its me age forgot.

No idea why but http://www.searchnu is back again today ?? I have downloaded nothing...

Something I use GOM Player updated yesterday, would this send the above in an upgrade ? in going to Cnet which I use to download anything notice GOM player included is http://www.searchnu as a toolbar or custom run as home page or run in the background !

another annoying one appear to be the same sort of thing is illvid some downloader that keeps trying to install.... had a problem yesterday F1 practice 1 and 2 with Sky Sports, telling me illvid was missing or out of date

Spybot is long out of favor, it is dog slow but you know - it still catches the crap!

I am not a fanboy of Malwarebytes, never found ANYTHING - but I hear it basically only catches trojans/virus.

My faves are:

Superspyware

Glary

Beachbit

CCleaner

Kaspersky Rootkit Killer

GMER

AVAST Free

My question was does software that uses it re-install it on an update ?

Check all your startup programs and stop anything suspicious. Check IE for HBO objects. Check the Task Scheduler for any suspicious tasks.

You can do this fairly easily w/ autoruns: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx
