bobl
Anyone know if a Honda CRV radiator is repairable? I'm told that it's a replacement job, because the top part of it is some sort of plastic and is not repairable. Seems a shame to throw away an otherwise perfectly good radiator just because a plastic part's cracked... Survived for three months using the "black pepper" trick but that solution no longer works, the crack got bigger... Was a time in a previous life I'd have whipped the thing out and soldered it myself, why the hell did they have to 'reinvent' the bloody things and put a plastic top on them?? Anyway... Anyone had experience having one repaired and/or can suggest a good shop that flogs reasonably priced radiators?
paulchiangmai
There is a place that repairs the plastic tanks as well as other radiator repairs in Chiang Mai as I have watched him work on occasions, unfortunately I can not describe where his shop is except to say it is east of the river and north of Thapai Road. I realise not much help for you but if you are really stuck I can check out the address for you next week.

KRS1
its repairable, i had the radiator on a nissan go that also had a plastic top. They will replace the plastic part if they are honest. Furthermore if your radiator is actually leaking from the tubes, the holes can be soldered using special solder.
bobl
Fwiw, bit of a task but I got the radiator out... Turns out both the top and bottom manifolds are cracked, was advised repair was possible (~b3,000) but with no guarantee, while a new one was b5,500... I bit the bullet and bought the new one... Thanks for the pointers to the repair shops...
