The attack occurred early Tuesday morning at the Bagram Airfield in the province of Parwan, which is operated by the U.S. military. Several rockets were fired at the base, destroying a helicopter and damaging a number of others in the fortified airfield. The attack comes on the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 attacks and just hours after the prison at Bagram was transferred from U.S. to Afghan authorities. The NATO-led International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) have not released an official statement, but spokesman Michael Cole spoke with Khaama Press confirming the attack. At least three people were killed, but a number of others are believed to be injured following the attack. The Taliban quickly claimed responsibility of the attack. -- © BNO News All rights reserved 2012-09-12 1
