[Myanmar] Dalai Lama Decries Abuses In Burma

Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama called reports of gross human rights violations against the Rohingya Muslim minority in Burma, allegedly at the hands of Buddhist monks, “very unfortunate,†but said he was powerless to do anything about the situation. Speaking at the Jamia Millia Islamia University in New Delhi on Wednesday, the exiled leader said that “no avenue of communication with the Burmese government is open to me,†and that fellow Nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi has not replied to a letter he sent to her about the issue, the Tibetan news agency Phayul reported.
