Looking For Muriatic Acid

Featured Replies

I am looking for muriatic acid which is used to clean masonary surfaces. I have been to Global house and Home pro but they don't seem to know what I am talking about. Does anyone know where I can buy it in CM and also what muriatic acid is called in Thai.

Muriatic acid is a low concentration of Hydrochloric acid approximately 40%. It's available from hardware stores and chemical supply houses.

Yes, it's an older term for hydrochloric acid.

It's in my toilet cleaner if that's any help! Not sure of the strength, and little warnings on the bottle.

I don't think you'd need a very strong solution for brick cleaning, It certainly took the stains off the toilet tiles!

You might have better luck using a more modern term.

That's exactly what I said, and it's available from the chemical supply company on Suthep road opposite the faculty of medicine.

Well I did also ask for hydrochloric acid they still did not know what I was talking about. With all the concrete buildings in Thailand you would think that it would be very common here. It is also excellent for removing black marks from porcelain toilets and sinks.

You can't get a much bigger hardware store than Global house. I think if I had the Thai name for the product it would help a lot.

The strong bathroom cleaner has 20% HCL ACID, I use that for cleaning stonewash etc... fizzes nicely so should do the trick!

You buy these things at a supermarket or a general store, bathroom cleaners.

Various brands with various concentrations of hydrochloric acid - 12% to 25%, if memory serves.

Tesco and Big C own brands tend to be weaker, other brands vary in strength - read the label, percentage is shown in English.

Hydrochloric Acid (american: Muriatic Acid) is available in every pool shop.

If you are still struggling to find some, it is available in the swimming pool supply shops as it is used to lower the ph of the water.

Vixol cleaner, found nearly any supermarkets, comes in HCL concentrations of 10% - 32%.
