There are some very authentic looking fakes being sold at TukCom. Unless you know the Ipad really well I'd take others suggestions and buy direct.

The tax isn't nonsense. It's sales tax just like you have to pay in many countries when you import goods. It would be unfair if people buying in Thailand had to pay tax and those importing didn't.
