Chiang Mai Eats Map

Featured Replies

Thanks, sorry about that now I think I got it, next time it will be from direct link from street view.smile.png

There is one thing that I think would work better though and that is if you could pull up the location on google maps and look at it in street view, then get the link and send that. I think you get your coordinates from a gps unit and those are taken in the street so when I add the link, it shows up as in the middle of the street and can be difficult to know exactly where the location is (plus gps coordinates have a certain amount of possible error that adds to confusion). The map link or coordinates gathered from the map at the exact shop location really help.

Well, I got a suggestion for the map that seems to make sense and I will start applying. I will start including the TV handle for the person that initially suggests a place. This way the readers can understand who is making the comments and who their tastes best follow. It will take me a while to pull all that info back up but I hope to get that done quickly.

Meanwhile, please keep the suggestions coming.

I think I know what you mean. A very old place of Chiang Mai selling Chicken Biryani. I haven't been there for years and the cooks were really old when I was a kid I don't know how they are now.

Thanks Mestizo,

Am I getting glitches on my end? These two links are sending me back to the Chiang Mai Eats map with no new locations. Just want to make sure if I need to do some internet rewiring.

Thanks!

Sorry,

Lets try these 2 links:

Best Sai Oua shop -- http://goo.gl/maps/J4YQq

Best Grilled Chicken shop -- http://goo.gl/maps/w3PHH

Thanks,

Ok, I think I've got everybody's ID attached to all the locations now. Please let me know if there are any mistakes or adjustments needed.

It's really great to see so many people contribute, especially for outlying areas that are not so well traveled. I'm hoping to find my way to all of them eventually.

"Mana" Mango and sticky rice stall.

Very original place. This place is one of the oldest place in Chiang Mai to sell Mango and sticky rice.

Grilled/ Flatten banana with coconut milk. Another old fashion Thai sweet snack , getting harder to find.

Very original Beef Noodle place.

Originally from Bangkok around 30-40 years ago. Lady owner moved from the Rangsit area in BKK where best beef noodle originated. This place serves another type of beef noodle with raw blood mixed in to the hot broth. (Unlike Rodyiam beef noodle) Try it you won't get sick! but no guarantee.

Aristide, it seems that the same thing happened with you as with Mestizo earlier. The link is to the CM eats map and not to the actual location. Can you recheck it please?

Thanks!

yeah, I even signed out of google maps to make sure there wasn't something on my end. It takes me to CM Eats, fully zoomed into an area around CM Polytechnic but there is no placeholder etc. It seems there is something wrong. Maybe try restarting the maps to make sure you aren't on CM eats.

Thanks!

Thanks for all your contributions Aristide. If you find yourself with time and want to just complete your stuff here, can you look back on your first few suggestions and maybe resubmit the locations? I think there were a few that I couldn't pinpoint the spot like I could on your later ones.

Thanks!

I've updated everything on the map that I've received so far. I think we are 50+ now. I am trying to come up with icons to apply to different places. For instance I have a brown bowl for beef noodles and a green one for Khao Soi. A carrot for vegetarian and chicken for...chicken. But there are some I either haven't thought up a simple image to represent or the restaurant is not so specialized.

I've had a request to include operating hours. I'm happy to do that if anybody wants to include it but I find operating hours here are pretty flexible.

Thanks

Hi beb I have updated the links on my previous post. How ever the deep fried snack (no farang name)

has no google map link as there is no blue line in google map access to this place. No problem if you want to exclude it. Thanks

Done!

I've just added a note to the snack spot and a noodle shop on the same road that no streetview is available.

I've already hit 3 new places since starting this. Now we just need more contributions to fill the map out.

Thanks!

Nice work!

Don't forget the famous Midnight Chicken Shop!

http://goo.gl/maps/XbUZ4

As the name implies, it doesn't open up until about midnight.
