falang07
How do you plan to rent a house if the owner is not known, and there is no sign on the house saying FOR RENT with a phone number? If there is a phone number, just call. Otherwise, rent somewhere else

davejones
Check with the land office who will have details of the registered owner Check with the land registry. Ever been at the landoffice ,guys? No. Why? Another option: just move in. Sounds like the owner has died or abandoned the place, so will never know you are there. If he does turn up, you can pay the rent.

Because the landoffice in Thailand works in a totally different way from a similar institution in the western world. They can't find the owner if you give them the address. The only way for them to find the details is to give them the landtitle deed number. I guess it might also be possible if one should be able to recover the number that is written on those short concrete poles, which they dig in the ground to mark the land edges, but normally that number is unreadable anyway. ThaidDown
To find the registered owner of a property go to the land office and ask to see a map of the area, point to the plot in question. It will be slightly quicker if you provide a number from a boundary marker, but you will still need to identify the plot on a map as a marker could appear on the plot you are interested in and adjacent plot(s). Do not know about Pattaya but some lands offices will be ok if you provide GPS coordinates.

Khun Jean
Did that a few times and it is very difficult if you don't have any 'numbers' available. Maps are often old. The trick that seems to work is to get a photocopy of the landtitle right next to it, or write down the numbers on that title. The concrete markers are shared and are often on both landtitles. Also numbers of landtitles are often sequential, having one close makes the search easier.
