Hi,

There's the requirement of having done 3 1-year visa extensions in order to apply for PR. I plan to apply in the future and right now I am planning to change job. Is there anyway to cancel the current WP and visa extension and get new ones without losing the eligibility for the PR application? This requirement really means that you need to have been working in the same job for 3 consecutive years?

Complicated and stress filled, but you should be able to do this with the full support of your current and new employers (it's easier if it's a BOI company).

Get your new employer to talk to Labour and find out their full list of paperwork, get this all ready and checked by Labour ready for filing before your WP and extension are cancelled; they go in early that day and file for the new WP.

You will also need 2x sets of the full list of paperwork required by Immigration for a 777/2551 Section 2.1 extension.

If you get your new WP application successfully filed, then Labour should let you take copies (or possibly even the originals) of the sucessfully filed papers to Immigration so that they can process a new extension for you.

Labour will then issue the new WP based on a successful 'subject to approval' extension.

You may well need to get a 7 day extension from Immigration to smooth things over, but it's certaimly posssible.

A 7 day extension won't break the Extension of Permission to Stay 'continuous for more than three years' rule for PR.

Thanks a lot chromakey!

So just get 2x papers, cancel and immediately apply for new one, take the receipt and make extension, is that correct?

Can you point me to the official web where to find about that 777/2551 Section 2.1 extension?
