Hi, I've been teaching over here for a while now but I'm heading back home in October. My last day at school is on the 5th of October but I wont be leaving the country until the 23rd. I have a work permit and visa both valid until March.

Will I be ok from the 5th till the the 23rd?

Cheers

That depends on whether you have an actual visa, requiring you to leave the country every 90 days, or are on an extension of stay based on employment from immigration.

In case you are here on an extension of stay, you will need to leave the country within 24 hours after termination of your employement and must cancel both work permit and permission to stay. You could get an extra 7 days for 1,900 baht, but might be more econimical to either just leave and fly back in (good for 30 days if you qualify for visa exempt entry) or get a tourist visa in a neighbouring country.

Thanks for the swift reply! I sign my name at immigration every 90 days, the next one is due on the 8th of October. I got my original visa in Hull 7 years ago and have been extending it since. Does that mean I have to leave the country 24 hours after my contract?

Yes you have to leave the country as soon as your employment ends.

You could could ask your employer to post date the letter for the work permit cancellation until the 23rd.
