Hello, my first posting and I am not sure if I am in the right section of the forum.

I am looking for any information I can find on Dhol Daeng Village. I believe it to be about 8 hour drive north east of Bangkok but I am not certain of that to be honest, I am relying on directions given to me by my girlfriend. I have a 2 week break from work in December and it's time to meet the folks.:D

Any help in directions or information on the village itself, the population, places to stay, or anything of interest and the location of the nearest airport would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

In addition to province, find out what town it is nearby and what main highway is close. I live in Baan Khao Din Daeng in Nakhon Sawan Province near a town called Takfa but you won't find it on any map!

Thank you.... I haven't had much luck with Google, it appears they haven't been everywhere yet.

Province and nearest big town or highway number as said above, is whats needed as they have places with the same name all over Thailand. I have seen at least 5 places on my travels with the same name as my village.

There's a Ban Don Daeng in Amphur Arkat Amnuay in Sakon Nakorn Province. It has a reputation for woven goods and would be about 8 hours drive from Bangkok - could that be it?

Doi Daeng is a mountain in Chiang Mai province. Not exactly north-east but north.

There are a couple of small villages there which are extremely basic and rural. Is your girlfriend of hilltribe heritage? if so, this might be the place..

Edit: ok, I see now you have confirmed Sakon Nakorn as the province. Sorry to create confusion.

I think i have been there, it's about half way between Udon Thani and Sakon Nakhon.

It was in 2007, but i noticed a couple of Foreigner's owned small Guest houses not far from the village itself..Bigger towns around are Baan Doong and Kam Tha Kla, noticed some foreigner's owned Bars there, as well as a couple of Guest Houses.
